Tournament Meta Snapshot - Week of 8/23

Analysis by Clarity - August 25, 2017

It is time for our weekly recap of Eternal Tournaments throughout the week. Even before the tournaments began, there was a major shakeup as a series of card changes came down. These included a rather significant hit to Armory. This week included an extra Sunday ETS; the Last Chance Qualifier. With the ETS Invitational approaching quickly, it is time to look at what decks stood above the rest. Note: I made some changes as to which decks corresponded to which archetypes, so the top 5 changed slightly from last week.

Raw Data

Top 5 going into the week:
Elysian Midrange
Combrei
Rakano
Icaria Blue
Praxis Midrange

The first event as per usual was the TCG eSports tournament. A couple of unusual lists were seen at the top, with Hooru Fliers taking it over Feln Scream. This catapulted Fliers into the #1 spot, however due to the low representation, the deck is disqualified from the top 5. The only other change in the top 5 was Icaria Blue being able to take a slight lead over Combrei and Rakano.

Praxis Midrange

The first day of the ETS doubleheader ended with a victory by Argenport. This combined with solid results throughout the rest of the week helped it cement a 64.4% winrate, 2nd only to Hooru Fliers. Elysian Midrange meanwhile had an awful day, falling out of the top 5 for the first time. Hooru Fliers meanwhile continued its strong week with another top 8, chalice also performed well, ending up as the only deck to end up with 2 top 8 finishes.

While the LCQ was only one day after the weekly, there was still a sizeable shift in deck performance. Elysian Midrange bounced back huge, coming top 4 as well as posting a 70% winrate, 10% better than any other deck played by multiple people. Despite this, Hooru Fliers managed to hold onto a 2% lead, claiming the #1 spot overall as well as for the week. Argenport, TJP Control, and Praxis were the next best decks in the LCQ, with each of them taking the remaining top 4 spots.

Top 5 decks overall:
Hooru Fliers
Elysian Midrange
Rakano
Praxis Midrange
Icaria Blue

The first week of tournaments since the latest patch caused a significant stir up in the results for the week, with none of the top 5 decks going into the week managing to come top 5 this week.

Clarity and I plan on making this a weekly thing, so expect another one of these sometime between next Monday and Wednesday. You can watch Clarity's stream, stay up to date with his whereabouts on Twitter, and join his Discord. I almost never stream, but in the rare instance that I do you can find it here.
