Nevermind the Endras here's the Mandrakes

I don't know, but The Merriest Mandrake looks like it has some potential.

I think it needs more utility spells and fewer units tossed in just for the ultimate. As is usually the case with Mask of Torment decks, Mask and its payoff are your end game.

I'm leaning towards trimming some fat for Auralian Merchant, but this is version 0.1, so my mood could change.

EDIT: Changes made. Suggestions for the Market welcome.

I've been fiddling with a Katra variant of this, leveraging the incidental life gain and synergies with Lifespeaker, Mandrake, and Mask. I find it is a bit more resilient to all of the deck hosing aimed at Endra- this version folds pretty hard to having mask removed.

Veteran Strategist and Xenan Lifespeaker are cheap ultimates that help with your game plan: Early blockers and a way to contribute to the lifegain theme.

Deathstrike is rarely worth playing maindeck. It's just way too expensive.

I like Veteran, but I haven't tried it yet. Lifespeaker was in an earlier build; it usually ended up being little more than a removal magnet. I certainly wouldn't rule out its return, though for now I'm happy with leaning less on lifesteal.

I disagree with the conventional wisdom on Deathstrike. I find fast removal to be nearly indispensable in Throne. It being a 4-cost just means I'm not running 4-of.
Levexecus Eternal Version: 1.49.2
I often hold my lifespeakers to combo out with a mandrake. If you play mandrake on T2, Lifespeaker turns into a 3 power 4/4 that draws a card and gains you life which is pretty awesome.

You've already got plenty of fast removal with 4 main desecrates and 3+1 banishes. If anything I'd push up your numbers of annihilates if you feel like you need more mainboard removal. I'd also consider Xenan Temple over Praxis Arcanum if you're looking for a bit more removal and general value.

Devours also strike me as a bit odd as the wisp from attendant is the only card you really want to be trading off, though if you add strategist they might deserve their spot. I'd also consider some additional void recursion with dark return/immortalize to make sure you always have mandrake around or replay cards and their ultimates after they get removed.

I don't have enough temples :( woe is me. Thank you for all this feedback. Annihilate I have a weird relationship with. It's fast, which is good. On the other hand there is a ridiculous number of things it can't target which is frustrating... But, you're not wrong. It's probably better than Deathstrike most of the time.

IMO Ayan, Spelunker and Attendant can all go. The deck is all about getting to mask and getting a cheap 8/8. Currently Ayan at best makes a 6/6 (not counting the rare tormentor which is actually an 11/11) You could have him in the market for aggro matchups with the merchants you replaced him with as this deck will require them him but I think Dreamsnatcher will be fine. Also to replace attendant; Vara is an excellent choice as always. Running a mask deck w/o her seems odd to me. As for spelunker, that spot is up in the air. Ways to dig are always nice. Scheme and/or Xenan Augury are 2 of my favorites.

Anyway, just some idea to bounce around. Good luck with the deck.
CrookedRook11 Eternal Version: 1.49.2
Absolutely agree on Spelunker. Ayan as market tech had not occurred to me. Thank you. You're probably right about Attendant, too. As for Vara's absence, my intention isn't a Mask Deck per say, but more of a "let's see what we can do with Mandrake and Ultimates," experiment. That said, Vara almost definitely replaces Attendant if I do add her.
