The idea is that your value never stops if you can get Xo to cost very little and you get it back with memory dredger/voprex's choice/dark return. Many games I win just by dark returning dragonsmith and getting ally triggers over and over.
With regards to the forge package (which is the whole point of eccentric officer+xo), you want the persuader as a very solid card to pop off with teething whelp if you happen to not get a rust grafter.
The mistveil drake, circlet, and timepiece can be any number of weapons or dragons of your liking.
