The deck was hit harshly from the recent nerfs but Majestic Skies was left untouched so I believe the deck can still live, no longer as Tier1 but as Tier2.
Entrancer is still viable despite the nerf but Alluring Qirin could be a valid (and expensive) replacement now, Skyrider Vanguard is dead in the water, Edict of Grodov is no longer a maindeckable card imho while Daring Gryffyn can still cause lots of bollock ache so it is still worth a 4x in our 75.
Sodi's Spellshaper now costing 3 is of course a pain but I believe the card can be played as a 3/2x because it still offers decent card draw and tempo play.
I will now play 3x Locust because we need more board presence in the early game with Spellshaper now costing 3 and I still want to play a couple of counter effects main deck so welcome to 2 Backlash.
Please do not give up on the deck, if played well the deck will still reward you!

Hi Everyone, Blessio here!

I managed to go from D1 to Master in Expedition last Friday (14/02) with Elysian Flyers.
I first went from D2 to D1 thanks to AhornDelfin's Grodov Armory list but I then hit a wall of FTS Token decks that were outvaluing me quite easily so I decided to stop being reactive to threats and to become the threat.

I faced some Elysian Flyers decks while I was playing Grodov Armory and they impressed me for a few reasons:
- They all looked quite cheap to build (no legendaries at all)
- They seldomly ran out of gas thanks to cards like Majestic Skies, Sodi's Spellshaper and Acquisitive Crow
- Possibility to play well around AoE with Stormtamer's Mount and Humbug Nest

The deck exists because Majestic Skies now exists, it allows us to play a bunch of silly 1/1 with Flying and make them a threat. You always want to keep hands with Majestic Skies, without it you lose tempo and your race is much slower (plus, in the mid/late game, you can tutor whatever flyers you like with the Ultimate depending on the situation you are facing).

I wanted the deck to curve out as much as possible so in terms of creatures we have:
- 8x CC1 drops (Entrancer + Snowstorm Druid)
- 8x CC2 drops (Stormtamer's Mount + Wild Cloudsnake)
- 10x CC3 drops (Acquisitive Crow + Humbug Nest + Skyrider Vanguard)
- The other creatures are 4 Daring Gryffyn and you do not need me to explain you why Gryffyn is good, 2 Elvish Swindler to play Majestic Skies more consistently and 1 Thunderstrike Dragon that you want to draw with the Ultimate of Majestic Skies

The rest of the cards offer tempo plays (Permafrost + Sodi's Spellshaper + Edict of Grodov) or card selection (Calibrate).
Speaking about Calibrate, it is an amazing card that allows us to keep saucy 1 Power hands and of course to find Majestic Skies more consistently (if you missed it, without Skies this deck does not do great things!)
I am playing 3 Calibrate at the moment but this is probably wrong because the card does too many good things that justify a 4x in our 75, just do not know what to cut at the moment to create space for the 4th copy.

I am aware the deck can play Highsky Lookout and that it can be a great fit for the deck, but this 75 cards worked so well straight away to me that I did not have the time to test it. If you will give Lookout a go, please feel free to share your thoughts on it!

The best start you can have with this deck is:
- T1, a CC1 Drop
- T2, Wild Cloudsnake/Majestic Skies
- T3, AcquisitiveCrow/Humbug Nest
- T4, Daring Gryffyn/Sodi's Spellshaper/Majestic Skies

Remember, this deck is all about tempo, the power level of your cards is ridiculous compared to the one of decks like FTS or Grodov (FTJ), so curve out and out-tempo your opponents, you have the sinergies to kill their face before they control your life! :)

I am very glad the deck has received lots of props during the weekend and people are enjoying and having success playing with it!

Entrancer: Obv weaker after the nerf but still does the job but Alluring Qirin can now be a good replacement (expensive though)
Spellshaper: CC3 is expensive but I think the card still offers decent card draw and tempo play. I will start playing with a 3x then maybe going to 2 (if not 0) if the card will no longer perform
Edict: CC4 is too much , it will not make the cut
Vanguard: Dead in the water
Gryffyn: Still gives bollock ache, I still would not play less than 4 of them

With Majestic Skies untouched I believe the deck can live, no longer as Tier1 but as Tier2. These are the first changes I would personally do to the deck:

This is insta-concede for me at the moment and Expedition seems full of this deck. Congratz on finding a weak spot in the meta! Still I hope this gets the hammer soon as Expedition is not fun to play for the last couple of days.

Unfortunately there are no replacements to the Emblems in Expedition at the moment, you need to play 8 more Sigils if you cannot afford them. :/
The deck will still work of course but Emblems help to mitigate the Power Flood, an Emblem drawn in the mid/late game will always make you happy whilst a normal Sigil will make you swear a lot.
Prioritize their craft in my opinion, Emblems will be a staple in this format for a little while! :)

Ah yes. I made the deck yesterday with only one emblem, and that last statement held quite true. I felt good grabbing the emblem, but those late game sigils were sigh inducing. Pardon my ignorance, but this is for Expedition, yes? (I’m just now coming back after a very long hiatus) Can this be configured for Throne?

Well constructed deck. Though it's too early to tell, I worry it will be format warping.

Really not a fan of the profusion of low cost high tempo decks that seem to be everywhere lately. Very low skill threshold needed to pilot them to a win.

Maybe not, but this deck isn't exactly cerebral. Cards like this are why I stopped playing magic. They either forced you to sideboard garbage to deal with whatever the particular Bogey Man decl of the day was or to play said deck.
I'll admit this isn't quite that. It's no Delver, nor is it Jund. But when I start to see mindless power creep (of which this game has seen plenty) it makes me worry about the longevity of the game, or rather my ability to enjoy it.
Same thing put me off of Solforge, another Kibler game that started out with promise and got stale due to increasingly absurd cards.

I found the power level to this deck to be fairly low, but that could be contextual I've been around for a while lets say, so I remember the most busted decks and most of what they were doing - you may remember too, the talir combo, alchemist revenge decks etc.

it's 100% not delver or any other big brain decks we had in our heyday but maybe more like the UW humans/spirits decks.

this is kind of fine though that we are getting powerful cards though, if things are problematic then they get sorted 2-3 weeks after a release but I would rather the envelope be pushed than just pissed in the wind like some of the recent mtg sets.

fortunately I don't think Kibler is a consultant on this game anymore so hopefully that will keep you around.

I see what you're saying and I agree with most of it. I think I'm just salty lately, because it seems like every time I get something good going one of these decks pops up like mushrooms after a nights rain and invalidates half the shit I have made. Losing God knows how many games to the opponent drawing silver bullets gets me in a foul mood.

it's much easier to get those silver bullets now we have the wishboards accesible in every deck - I kind of like that, but can appreciate that sucks if you've gotten used to BO3

Oh God yes. I think that's the biggest turn off to any of the digital card games. Not being able to adjust play based on a previous match. Probably what I miss the most from MTG.

I would argue that low-cost decks are important to help newer players get into the game. Assuming you mean low shiftstone cost, that is. And as the meta adapts to combat the strategy, the players piloting the deck will be forced to learn and adapt as well which is a very good experience for a new player.

I'm referring to the power curve. When more than 60% of the deck needs 2 power to go nuts, it can make for boring one sided games. I don't hate aggro, but this deck more or less hangs on getting a very (imo) over tuned anthem effect. 2 power for a very easy to satisfy influence cost +1/+1 was poorly thought out.

If Royal Decree is any indication, the answer to that is probably 'no'. They have a habit of designing these cards that edge past being good and into abusive territory. Occasionally they fix them i.e.- Shavka.

I imagine if no nerf is given the meta will simply find a way to adapt. Additionally, I imagine it will be a short-lived reign of terror as the Expedition introduces more cards and pulls out others. If Sandstorm Titan was in Expedition right now I imagine this deck would auto-

I've seen this played in throne as well, or a variation of it. My point is more about DWD's habit of creating cards that push too far in certain circumstances.

It's not uncommon for sets to have pushed cards, let alone cards pushed so hard they warp formats. Just look at Oko from MTG's recent expansion Throne of Eldraine. It warped the game in all formats so much it got banned in multiple. I'm not saying cards pushed this far are good for the game, but I am saying they should be expected from time to time. At the end of the day, Dire Wolf does need to make a little money so they need to incentivize people to get their cards.
