Folks, I am making MONEY with this deck right now in Gauntlet
(list has been updated, but the spirit remains the same)
Plus, some of the really important cards for this build can be found in campaigns and in theme decks, so it isn't too hard to get the Legendaries though this list is pretty heavy on rares. I would like to make a combrei version later, but I have a grand total of 0 Worldbearer Behemoth
Let's just start with what drawing the nuts can get you:
Turn 1, 0 power: Sigil, play District Infantry
Turn 2,1 Power: Warped Seal of Devotion
, play Hojan, Crownbreaker
. Swing for 3 with District Infantry
. Damage total = 3.
Turn 3, 2 Power: Sigil, Play Gilded Glaive
on Hojan, Crownbreaker
. Swing 5 with District Infantry
and 10 with Hojan, Crownbreaker
. Damage total = 18.
Turn 4, 4 Power. Sigil, play Marshal Ironthorn
. More empowered swings. Damage total = You win if they didn't block something.
Turn 5, 5 Power. Sigil (x2 with Marshal), Play Telut, Queen's Hand
. Swing for (censored) with Hojan, Crownbreaker
Damage total = *cry laugh emoji*
Turn 6, you have 11 power and Chains in the market. Would have been disgusting before the chains nerf, but the card is OP. We'll take what we can. If you tweak the deck to main copies of chains, you could technically have it in hand already, JUST SAYING
The rest of the cards are here to support this strategy. Icaria, Valkyrie Captain
helps ramp. Valkyrie Enforcer
, and Harsh Rule
all help when things are not going in your favor.
Perfect draws are rare. But the deck is built to make it happen as consistently as my collection and wit allow. Avigrafting deadly units is a pretty good go to. You can usually stomp the smaller blockers. Getting silenced is LAME. But you can kill everything and start over more than once with this build.
The market here is treated like a combo deck market. It has the 4th copy of your important players. If I had a 4th Marshal Ironthorn
I would sub him for Retribution
. This would leave your early ramp in the Main Deck and the mid to late bombs with market consistency, and removal for when you need that.
This is left as a 1 of in the market because I don't want extra copies of 9 power cards in the way of the ramp. This deck has 30 power, you can definitely stuff some Chains in there without too much worry.
I think Sediti, the Killing Steel
will do a lot more work than Copperhall Paladin
. but, YOU GUESSED IT, I don't have that card.
Cheaper option would be to add more Minotaur Platemaker
. This is a very good card in this deck as casting him is easy with all the ramp. It activates renown and makes your weak creatures into not-weak creatures. Plus Telut, Queen's Hand
---> a double damage BULL! You can't be sad about that.
Regardless, if you can afford it and you want to rub all your cool cards in my face---
-Cut 1 Vanquish
and 3 Copperhall Paladin
for 3-4 Sediti, the Killing Steel
and 0-1 Minotaur Platemaker
- Cut Retribution
for Marshal Ironthorn
in the market.
-Cut 3 Basic Sigils for 3 Copies of Martyr's Chains
as long as you market them if they are clogging your hand.
I hope you all enjoy the wins, I am here to answer any questions and to hear any advice.
EDIT: minor card tweaks for flexibility, consistency, and greater market value
