Information

This deck got me from rank2 to rank1 and while I usually would not post a deck that got me 1 rank higher I had to go 30-6 to get there. Howling Peak is the second best card in the game behind jennev merchant. Welcome to defiance. Come for the decklist, stay to read astaroth's condescending messages to VoidKing, then cry like a bitch because he can dish it out but not take it.
ashlexd Eternal Version: 1.42
Are you attempting to defend your toxicity? Or just being a sarcastic asshole?
Pick one.
BTW top whatever in Oklahoma in mtg for a couple of years means nothing to anyone if you aren't top of the leaderboard visibly in Eternal. It's proof of your knowledge in mtg, clearly not in Eternal....
Just sayin.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42.2
There are a lot of similarities among the two competitive card games, and any good player of any card game ever knows that the skillsets required among them don't exist in a vacuum, so, you're dumb.
astroroth Eternal Version: 1.42
Come for the decklist, stay to witness the 5 year top 8 champion of oklahoma have a meltdown all over the thread.
Largetree Eternal Version: 1.42
I just exported this to try it out. Most fun I've had in long time with a deck. I'm not great at running deck tk max potential yet, but I'm getting there. Thanks for the share
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
Hey, I just hit masters with a list based off of yours. Wanted to say thanks for the great build and I really enjoy the deck.
TaxMan5x Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
When did Jotun Hurler become so popular? Isn't the aegis unit that draws 1 more card every time it attacks just strictly better?
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
It is popular since it is two cards in one. Which is great with strategize. As well the snowball pops aegis of problematic creatures. I tried cutting down to two Hurlers. But they work so well I went back to 3.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
Which is like playing bad cards just to pitch it to market.

Jotun Hurler, is, in my opinion, never worth it to play.
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
Hmmm...seems like you've gone silent, power go out in good ol' Oklahoma?
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
Still waiting on that add my friend.
mauric Eternal Version: 1.42
It's about card draw. Hurler is really two cards. which means you can then market out the hurler giving you card advantage. you can then use the snowball to pop aegis.

But really, it's just about card advantage which is worth everything.
VoidKing Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
This deck is the prime example of trying to do everything to the point that it doesn't end up doing anything very well. This deck seems to think your opponents aren't going to play things.

The creator says it's supposed to be proactive, but then designs it to be among the slowest decks out there. If your opponent applies any pressure, at all, you're forced to try to play catch up with a west-wind herald, a peak with no blockers, or a hurler and a snowball.

Sry, just ain't seein' this one.

It's really good vs. decks that don't play more than one creature in the first five turns, though.
astroroth Eternal Version: 1.42
I think you're just doing it wrong.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
I think you're assuming that because your emotionally invested in this rather bad deck.

I know what I'm doing when it comes to card games. I was top 8 in constructed in mtg for like 5 years in Oklahoma.
Alison Eternal Version: 1.42
actually i think its because its a deck that got to rank 1
TaxMan5x Eternal Version: 1.42
I've been playing Magic for more than 2 decades and I never knew that Oklahoma was the pinnacle of competitive play. Silly me...
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
Was just saying I know competitive play, jackass. Still, no amount of experience or lack thereof is going to make this deck any less janky.
astroroth Eternal Version: 1.42
What in interesting comment. I'll just let it sit there and speak for itself.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
Works for me.
astroroth Eternal Version: 1.42
What in interesting comment. I'll just let it sit there and speak for itself.
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
Wow. I did not know that Mtg was the same thing as Eternal!? And my goodness, I had no idea that a player in Oklahoma, and made a top 8 in a local 6 man event played this and had made it to the secret Rank 0 and so obviously knows more than the current Rank 1...wow, you learn something everyday huh?
astroroth Eternal Version: 1.42
He was the 5 year reining top 8 champion of Oklahoma, dude. Show some respect.
VoidKing Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
You guys are morons. Why are you so emotional? West wind as a once in a ten games win condition does not, a good deck, make.

I don't know why you're mad at me. I didn't build this jank. I'm just calling it what it is.

I've play tested it (I even read the write up, which I hardly ever do, because after how terrible it performed, I WAS convinced I was doing it wrong, but, nope, doesn't even do what it's supposed to do nearly ever).

I know how it's supposed to be played (which is all I was trying to say by demonstrating that I have some card game competitive experience. You are the simpleton that keeps acting like I thought I was the mtg God or something), and this deck doesn't deliver. I'm sorry that rubs you the wrong way.

And, by the way, if you can't see the numerous similarities between Eternal and Mtg, then I can't help how retarded you are.

If you don't believe me, you play this and I'll play Face Combrei, and we'll see how often you win. Now, at this point, your vagina is, no doubt, salivating at the opportunity to try and put words in my mouth, implying that I'm saying Face Combrei is the best deck out there using some poorly thought out sarcastic remark or another, but that's the point I'm trying to make. Face Combrei should get crushed by control almost every time, but this deck doesn't even do that very well. No, it's too busy trying to play west wind or jotun hurler on turn 5, or hoping, desperately that your opponent is dumb enough to play into your hailstorm instead of slamming down that that Feast-Caller like he just did.

At least Almost's Twin Peaks version plays need-to-answer Feast-Callers, removal that actually works in this meta (albeit a little pricey on the Feeding time side), and most importantly, other threats besides the most mundane combo ever constructed or a flying 6/6 your opponent has all the saved up removal for (again, desalivate your vagina. Xo is a great card in a lot of cases).

Hmm.. the Scattershot you miraculously, finally, survived to turn 10 to pull off? Uh, equivocate... or annihilate... or deathstrike..., or torch... or...
ToastFaceKillah Eternal Version: 1.42
Quality of the deck aside, it's not in the best taste to call people retarded and accuse them of having vaginas as an insult...

The ladies must be beating down your door. Maybe they're willing to overlook the casual sexism for a chance to be with the MtG King of Oklahoma lol
VoidKing Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
That's it? That's your big comeback?

Your mom seemed okay with it.

You ok, man? You seem a bit...unhinged.
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
I wish there were karma points to give to you for that.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
Was that supposed to be your cool finishing comment or something?

Well, at least you ceased your sarcastic condescending remarks and are now asking legitimate questions.
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
Add me. We can test it out. Words into action man.
EquivoKate Eternal Version: 1.42
It is clear to me, a genius, that it is not the dude who went on a 5+ paragraph rant who is more emotionally invested party of this exchange.
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
I wish I didn't have to write 5+ paragraphs, but since it was the only way to try and get through thick skulls...
Yochanan Eternal Version: 1.42
I also thin the deck is kinda inconsistent... at least i m destroying every ixtun peaks deck i see with my dark alessi deck (hojan killers by aetherllama). It really seems that you have to play into the decks game plan to lose so i really think that if the players start recognizing that deck and know how to not play into their game plan this deck gets worse and worse...
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
This sounds a viable explanation to me. I also found, somewhat unsurprisingly, that this deck does worse the more scrub-like the deck you're playing against. Nothing sucks worse than losing to a deck that plays a bunch of bad cards, but at least has threats and game plans that come down consistently mid-rangey.

I haven't checked out hojan killers by atherllama yet. Is that deck pretty good? I glanced at it a few times, but haven't yet checked it out, myself.

Yeah the dari alessi list (i changed it a bit to my play style) is really sweet. The new cards made the old, already strong alessi deck even better and a little bit more aggressive. You dont have to play expensive cards like tavrod anymore, instead you re getting value out of killer synergies and regents tomb with renown and revenge... i totally love this deck
VoidKing Eternal Version: 1.42
You're no doubt gonna think I'm dense, but I've yet to find an Alessi build that I'm impressed with. Alessi spells, Dark Alessi, original Alessi, it seems to not matter...

It's obvious that Alessi is the best 1 drop in the game, but a 1 drop it remains, I guess.

You don't see mtg players playing decks around Ornithopter because it's the best 0 drop creature in the game...

I exaggerate, I suppose, but I've just not had any real luck with her. Perhaps I'm just not playing the right builds. Mostly, I've played Alessi spells (which I admit is probably not the best Alessi build), and I end up pumping Alessi throughout the game and then centering her around swinging and using equivocate to stop their stack-block from killing her. Still, I was even less impressed with Dark Alessi.

"Allessi" Alessi seemed kind of neat but never got the chance to try that one out.

I'm curious how well Hojan Killers makes use of her.
grodytoadie Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
This deck is insane. Thanks for the explanation too! I've gone 16-4 in the last 20, with 3 of those loses in the first 6 games as I was still figuring out the deck. Took me from rank 136 to 12.
ThousandMoods Eternal Version: 1.42
How do you play this deck? I read the write-up by MrNTM and try to do my best. But I just keep loosing with this deck. I really hate playing it. What's the secret? Am I just dumb? This deck took me from rank 90 to 300.
cVantez Eternal Version: 1.42
Why is this deck not called Twin Peaks =p
Wok Eternal Version: 1.42
Everyone is playing this deck. So annoying.
Static Eternal Version: 1.42
Quick question: why seek power over cargo? In the late game are we really still interested in fixing and power rather than (small) value?
Almost Eternal Version: 1.42
You will consistently want more than 5 power, and the 7th power is generally better than a random card.
gekkoe Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
This deck was instrumental in getting me into Masters for my first time. Thanks much!

I did change out the seek powers for Ixtun Cargos though. It's a rare fight when I'm ready to drop Xo and don't have 3 reds, especially since I'm conscious of this before I allow the cargos to turn into contrabands.

I'm aware an early drop of one of these does clue my opponent in on what I may be running as well, but I consider both of these risks worth the added value of contraband. I can be really clutch sometimes!
ClubbingSealCub Eternal Version: 1.42
Cargo isn't really worth it. This deck really needs to hit 7/8/9 power and late game contraband isn't power, it's a random card - which is usually worse.
gekkoe Eternal Version: 1.42
To each their own. I've found them quite useful and have had no troubles getting to enough mana to cast Xo. I'm also rather fond of having more choices available sometimes.

But I do get that some people prefer to min/max invariance rather than allow for some RNG and hope for the best. I prefer the higher ceiling and am willing to tolerate the lower floor. :)
Shovelmint Eternal Version: 1.42
This deck is absurdly good, I haven't felt so far ahead of the rest of the field since party hour. Went from diamond III to masters dropping only 3 games, one of those losses was the mirror. Thanks a lot Mr. NTM
BadBug Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
Thanks for sharing but can you explain a bit please how to use it in the best way ?
MrNoTimeMan Eternal Version: 1.42
All will be explained shortly :)

The scattershot combo is not infinite anymore right? like it just goes until the board is filled, or am i missing something?
MrNoTimeMan Eternal Version: 1.42
It was never infinite but it is insurmountable.
MrNoTimeMan Eternal Version: 1.42

Ravager Eternal Version: 1.42
I'm confused, this isn't an Argenport deck.
MrNoTimeMan Eternal Version: 1.42
What the hell? Who am I?
Gandalf Eternal Version: 1.42
It looks as though your success might have more to do with the insanely good "bore" you've got maindecked. That's now shaping up to be one of the best cards in the game.
Zado Eternal Version: 1.42
Is there any list you would consider a good stepping stone?

I wanna make a deck that can be upgraded into this one.
Ravager Eternal Version: 1.42
Icaria Blue is probably the closest thing, but nothing like this has ever existed before because we never had sites before.

This is at it's core an Ixtun (FJP) control deck.
neraidaphobia Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
Works beautifully. Only loss was to FP aggro with bad influence. Out Grinds everything else. MVP Burn them all, that card won so many games, especially other peaks. TBH the worst card for me was avegraft overall, and was marketed away almost as much as the hurler fodder, but when its useful, it is useful. Seems like everything worth 3 power removal flies these days bc this card. Thank you for sharing. Grats on the 1st place.

Also, quick Q. when would you attempt the scattershot herald combo? I never had a chance to use it or needed the gimmick to win a game? I almost never pulled a herald from the market unless there was nothing left.

Thanks
MrNoTimeMan Eternal Version: 1.42
Glad you like it! All questions will be answered shortly :)
YurickYu Eternal Version: 1.42
3 questions about the deck: No Harsh Rule? Is really necessary main deck 2 Bore? 3 Jotun Hurler are for trade for Market/Strategize right?
Sweaty_Wizard Eternal Version: 1.42
I've been playing around and tweaking the list here and there. While Harsh Rule isn't this decks way to gain immense card advantage.

I thought it wouldn't hurt to have two. So I shaved some of the cards down. To make room for two harsh rules, as well as Eilyin. Because I have been able to consistently (and by consistent I mean whenever I draw her before turn 6) play her on curve and sometimes you get lucky to copy her.

Then...I was having trouble fighting against other sites, since this decks main interaction is our units that can be blocked easily, Burn em all from the market and my Eilyin's summon ability, so....I was crafting and got a nifty card by chance called Phoenix stone and boy...I'm not turning back from this as a 1 of that absolutely love.
SasquatchBrah Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
Maindeck Bore is fantastic with 8x merchant. Either you market them away in games they're relevant or you can bore, then market away a copy after you've removed every single relic on the board. Then later you can market it back. So the answer is: It's not always necessary, but it's very rarely bad, and most of the time it's extremely good.
