Information

Pretensions click baity deck title, but I wanted to be clear there was no bamboozle about the deck's quality.

I'll put out a better deck tech soon, but I've been wanting to get this deck out there for a very long time. Well okay, the other reason I'm not putting out a decklist is because I don't want to give too many strategies away before tomorrow. Just seems a little prudent.

This is a different build of Xenan Midrange. It's slower than the usual one I'll represent by this
decklist: https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/k2tUvpAifh8/just-an-ordinary-xenan-deck

It focuses on sites and is incredibly hard to play, but it did have a 65-75% win rate in top 100 masters as well as putting up a 20-8 record at the ECQ.

Nice deck - looking forward to the deck tech

Interestingly, I played against decks like this tonight in four separate games and none of them were this exact list. I guess people want to develop the archetype.

For those asking why this deck is hard to play, I think it comes down to the shear number of potential lines of play when working with this many sites.

Consider a typical deck with no sites. Often you have many things to consider each turn when deciding what to play, ie. Which power to play, which card to play, advance your board or keep up removal or card draw, etc.

Add on top of that merchants. Which card do I need? Which card do I trade? What could the opponent have? What information do I already have?

Now add in 3 different sites. Imagine it's turn 5, your hand is Praxis arcanum, Xenan temple, Moonstone Vanguard, time sigil, Crest, and you draw an ebon dune smuggler... Without even mentioning the board state or what you're playing against, just think about how many possible plays you could potentially make. Making the "correct" play is almost impossible You're probably always going for the "most correct" play, and finding out what that is involved applying all of the aforementioned information to the plethora of cards in your hand.

"Hard to play" is an understatement.

Incredibly hard to play? ahhaha
Nice joke kappa

The hardest choice is "Play Sandstorm or Vara at T4"

Please be excellent to each other. Don't be rude.
+ we can see the deck you published, you have no right to call out anybody.
Stormblessed Eternal Version: 1.43
I'll add on to Grimfan's comment that you should watch the ECQ vod if you think this deck is easy to play.
Grimfan Eternal Version: 1.43
I think you missed the be excellent to each other part.
Raven333 Eternal Version: 1.43
There is nothing wrong with his comment.
Grimfan Eternal Version: 1.43
Well it appears we disagree on that.
Raven333 Eternal Version: 1.43
But your snarky passive aggressive tone isnt being excellent to me. So that just makes you a hypocrite. Why even bothering going on a tirade to control how others should behave when you are so easily offended and passive aggressive?
Grimfan Edited Eternal Version: 1.43
I don't think I did anything that you're actually saying. I figured the individual who was being rude and laughing at another individual missed the part below the submit comment button where it says to be excellent and not rude.

If you look up the definition of tirade, where did I go on one exactly?

Also, I'd like to add I wasn't being snarky or passive aggressive. I was just stating what I thought. I'm not sure how you got my tone as being anything but just normal text.
TheBergund Edited Eternal Version: 1.43
I saw it and I still think that the deck is easy to play.
Reanimator requires more skill than "Play what is green".
Also the clickbait title...

Sorry Grimfan but it was too much in a single post.

3 questions about your deck:

1) Suffocate is really playable? What you think in change Suffocate for Xenan Initiation and put another card in market?

2) If you have an ambush merchant then Deathstrike can be better than In Cold Blood in market (you can main deck In Cold Blood).

3) No azindel?
Arcengal Eternal Version: 1.43
Can you elaborate on what makes this deck "incredibly hard to play"? Is it because of the "one site at a time" rule?
Crylorenzo Eternal Version: 1.43
I'd just like some more description on how you play it and what sort of combos/wincons there are. Happy to try it, just not sure at a glance what I'm supposed to do with it.
Stormblessed Eternal Version: 1.43
I'd rather not reveal my strategies right before Day 2 of the ECQ. After I win or lose I will put up a more detailed description.
Arcengal Eternal Version: 1.43
Turned out this worked! Congrats on getting 3rd.
Crylorenzo Edited Eternal Version: 1.43
That's understandable. Looking forward to it! Also, if your name is a reference to Kaladin Stormblessed, that's extra awesome.
