This is a deck
Flippyflop and myself have been working on for the past couple weeks in response to the increase in Haunted Highway and FJS Control. It essentially aims at doing what Combrei Aggro does but with spell negation instead of aegis spam. It's pretty much Hooru Fliers.
flippyflop's version
Icaria, Valkyrie Captain - This is a somewhat weird choice since we're not running many Valkyries, but because of the low single primal influence requirement we can include a lot of justice sources. She is a very powerful
Mirror Image target and additionally activates
Unseen Commando.
Unseal - A fairly common market card in Hooru, running three in main deck is where we're deviating. I've always thought that Unseal was an underrated card, especially in this meta. It's essentially just a more versatile
Stand Together without the +1/+1 buff and for one less power. In a meta where Vara, Vengeance Seeker control decks are extremely popular and you want fast interaction for Haunted Highway (or even West-Wind Herald Combo!), it's an amazing option.
Svetya, Orene of Kosul - Not as much of a new addition as it is just an extremely powerful tool in this meta. You can think of Unseal and Svetya as substitutions for Stand Together and Sword of Unity to deal with the aegis negation from Vara. After testing this card in the market originally, I've ultimately decided to leave it in main as I think taking it out of the market is a bit too slow.
The powerbase is the last thing I will mention. It is slightly different than usual, as we're running four
Seek Power in an aggro/midrange deck instead of regular power. First of all, I believe that unless you're playing a true aggro deck, people are too afraid of depleted power. Playing this turn one or three along with a two drop isn't a huge deal, and it makes
Icaria, Valkyrie Captain incredibly reliable. It also thins our deck, which is very powerful when we are using a more aggressive gameplan.
I hope you have success with this deck on ladder, I think that it is incredibly powerful right now!
