It can be a big tempo loss for midrange decks that play one unit per turn, and it's also combined with displacer. In addition it allows Elysian midrange to deal with problem units that could not be killed with Permafrost or Carnosaur (like Tavrod or Makto+devour, even though they are not a huge part of the meta now).
