This is the deck I used to climb to master this month. It exploits the current over-realiance on removals by playing resilient threats, and complement it with a solid anti aggro package.

Good matchups are all the midrange and aggro decks, bad is whatever deck playing champion of cunning and vara, terrible is echo makto. The deck is not great for games that go too long. Considering the underrepresentation of those deck on ladder, the deck should be great of climbing, and, at least, you have the satisfaction of crushing argenport midrange.

All the creatures, apart from Makto charge or deal damage on entering. Use that to put uninteractive pressure on the opponent. Your goal is to chain threat after threat and deal damage while they answer all of them, but in their turn.

Thank you for reading, I will try to keep the deck updated in the next few days. Any feedback is welcome! The deck needs polishing, the manabase expecially has the color right but the banner are super slow.

Notable inclusions:

Vicious highwayman instead of statuary maiden: I started with both, then trimmed out all the statuary maiden and kept the highwayman. The reason was versatility. The ping + heal is invaluable in aggro matchups, and against control it provides both a way to destroy enemy weapons and to pop aegis. A common line of play is turn 7, play it, pop enemy icaria aegis, then slay it.

Makto instead of tavrod; Tavrod was in the deck at the start, but I believe makto is currently much better positioned, as most non aggro deck play around 4 slay at the moment, and it was almost impossible for tavrod to survive to attack, and, since I was playing at the time just 9 target in the deck, attacking was not even a guarantee to win.

Really cool deck, made masters easily with it. I have cut 2 Icarias 1 Makto and 1 HIghwayman for 3 Maidens and 2nd Soulfire Drake, simply because i didn't had enough copies of cards, but i think it works great this way. Maidens won me a lot of games vs Feln reanimator and various Makto nonsenses. Of all our creatures highwayman looks weakest, often you can't cast him on turn4 against agro because of influence requirements, and to cast him+removal you often have to wait until turn 7. They are good at popping egidas but thats about only use for the ping against decks i encountered. Considering replacing them with Whirling duos, less powerful but more consistent.

Silly question, but is Statuary Maiden a decent replacement for Vicious Highwayman? We can assume that, given its lack of popularity as a card, very few people are going to be eager to craft a full set of Highwayman for this single deck.

Lack of popularity? Highwayman has been MVP or me and currently 6-0 with this exact deck. It has given me a lot of health back for a comeback. Shadow I believe is now a very strong faction in this meta and this deck hasn't let me down yet. You just have to make crucial moves in order to get ahead. I even beaten 3 icarias in a game by holding up my two highwayman's for 4 turns and following it up with removal. Highwayman is a very strong card and worth crafting for its stones car faction and if your excluding it then you're doing it wrong

I would go for statuary maiden. If you don't also have her, maybe try playing 4x rise to the challenge and 2x sword of icaria.

What would you cut for it? I think cutting the soulfire and the dark return for it would be reasonable, and I will test it. I was also thinking about it, and with makto in the deck (before I was playing tavrod) it is possibly a really good addition.

My rationale for not playing it was that I wanted to keep the matchup vs aggro as good as it is now, and for it you don't need to have any dead cards that spend mana for doing nothing the turn you cast them. But this was relative to the fact I was facing a lot of rakano and skykragg. If you meet more control than aggro it is a good card.

Excuse me, but that is surely wrong: you want more icarias, not less. You want to draw her in every matchup including aggro. Her, makto, slay and torch are the cards I would never dare to cut, as they are a notch above anything else.

What about the games where you draw two or three Icarias in your opening hand, against aggro or midrange? Doesn't that feel bad?

I'm playing a version of this deck with -2 Icaria +1 Soulfire Drake +1 Annihilate -1 Seat of Vengeance +1 Rakano Banner and it's working out pretty well for me.

Ahah, I get you, :) I actually made this deck after I finished saving for it, as I wanted to play a deck with quarry. Hurry up saving since it is irreplaceable if you play revenge units.

In the meanwhile I would go: +1 seek power, +1 sword of icaria, +2 rise to the challenge.

Also scheme is reasonable, but I would play 2 max. Have fun!
