This is my Dark Chalice list. It's really fun and is a nice switch up from the top tier decks. Holds up fairly well but can lose easily if opponent plays a lot of flyers.Just updated for Set 4. I have been able to get over my issue at holding flyers back by including Sandstorm Scarf in the market which has helped out this deck sooooo much. Derry is a great addition too as he lets you pop face aegis for cheap or even just set your opponent back some. My favorite is using chalice on him twice then activating his ability for a whopping 8/8 with overwhelm. It takes a few turns sure but the whole point of this deck is to bait out your opponent for a long time anyway.

I have won many games where I was at the cusp of losing but given this deck's health gain potential and just general run-away-ness you can really turn a game on it's head. But this goes both ways as if you are drawing a lot of spells and no units you are generally bound to lose. Most of the units have a good health level so they hold up to aggro, but at the end of the day Torch can kill your early threats easily. Feln Bloodcaster is great for the anti aggro matchup and generally just holding attackers at bay.

A fun deck tech is Devastating Setback as not only does it give you flexibility in A) dumping opponents win cons if playing control/armory decks and B) by helping you clear grow wides but it also gives you a really cool interaction in that you can play this card to sweep your opponents board to kill some of their units but also re-up on chalice for your units allowing them to get even bigger. This is always a really great play if you have the mana.


For the new Into the Shadows update I have added Shakedown and Azindel, Revealed. These cards are pretty great.
For starters, Shakedown really vibes with the control theme of the deck and gives early nightfall which enables more draw. This now also gives the deck a good option on Turn 1 other than Seek Power. I have loved adding this card and think it is a great card. You don't realize how many of your opponent's threats are under 3 and with the current meta it really helps combat a lot of the tough to beat decks right now. EDIT: I removed this in favor of Messenger Hawk but feel free to keep it, this still plays quite well in the deck.

Azindel then is a really great top end for the deck. You plan on flooding the field anyway so this should be pretty good when you drop him to draw some more cards and everyone knows control just loves having more cards. Azindel is pretty much an immediate impact on the board too, providing two other defenders with deadly which is amazing. On top of that you can chalice these two if you really want though I would recommend just attacking into the opponent for that card draw instead. I used to run Channel the Tempest here but after the nerf I found myself never wanting to play it when I still ran it in the deck. For some reason 9 was just too much and took too long to get to. The 8 power seems to be a good top end point.

The final change I made was to include Rindra's Choice as it is great in the meta currently with all the multi faction cards running amok. This card does wonders against Haunted Highway or Skycraggro and any other big multi faction threats you might face (looking at you Tavrod who is still seeing lots of play).

I also recently added Messenger Hawk which I absolutely love in this deck. It let's you copy and get more of things you might need depending on the matchup. Sometimes you can copy for more removal, sometimes copy for more threats, sometimes copy something from the market for extra copies (looking at you Cirso's Cleaver) sometimes copy for another Azindel or Dreamsnatcher or really anything, and it's a chalice target. I absolutely love this card and I love it in this deck now too. It plays well and gives me something to do on turn 1.
