Is this a Chalice deck? No.
But at the same time? Yes.
This deck features the same weird, paradoxical vibe as Chalice. A control deck with sweepers, but also heavy on small units. The deckbuilding motivations, however, are not the same as classic Chalice. Here, the presence of small units serves to trigger onslaught on
Lethrai Soothsayer, our win condition. Load the deck with bolts, survive, and eventually win through inevitability.
Chalice plays a good role here as well, allowing us to turn all of our units into cards in slower matchups. It is not the focus of the deck, but another angle of attack.
Rime Conclave Smuggler gets the nod over Jennev Merchant, as I believe having 8 ways to access
Pristine Light is really huge, despite not being buff-able by Chalice. In specific setups, Light can lead to some amazing sequences. Sometimes, being a double Vanquish is good enough.
Lumen Defender is a flex slot, but having lifegain in control decks is important. Im not such a fan of
Combrei Healer with the reduced presence of Chalice, but other options might be better.
Overall, deck is pretty nice, and a lot of fun to play. Misplays are punished pretty heavily, so be mindful of sequencing.
