Thanks for the deck manus. I get to master ranked with this deck recently, I replaced derry with hailstorms, it's Good against aggro deck. Now I've tried swap it with two accelerated evolution to grab big units from being permafrost. What are your thoughts about it?
thats great! Congrats. You are welcome :)
Hailstorm is not necessary and a bad card vs a lot of decks and situations. the deck had 4 hailstorms int he beginning when phyrexcian gave it to me. stay away from situational card sin midrange decks if u want to make them good and be able to beat control. derry is good vs aggro without being a bad card elsewhere since it is just a 4/4 eventually with some disruption added. evolution is clunky and mostly good when ur are ahead and REALLY bad when u rare behind. who cares about permafrost? why do u put situational 3 cost cards in ur deck to answer 1 cost cards that u dont need to answer? sure they are ncie with cirso and feastcaller and endurance on a harbingr can be nice. but if u get there u alrdy did most of the job. evolution is unplayable basically since it got nerfed. too clunky. u dont worry about torch or annihilate or slay so why worry about permafrost. worry about what actually matters and beats u not random removal. if u want to cut derry find sth good. sth that is efficient helps u early isnt useless late and solid ot good vs any deck and both when u are ahead or behind. or at least sth that solves real problems. ;)
I climbed from Bronze 2 to Masters with this list over the last 5 days. In silver and gold, I cut some stuff to play banishes because I was seeing a lot of random combo decks and xenan obelisk decks but in diamond I went back to this original list and my winrate was well within 70%. Thanks for the list and the deck tech and thanks for the information you provide to the eternal community!
This deck has worked really well for me. Have climbed from Bronze 2 to Gold 3 with it so far. After a few games I noticed I was losing to running out of steam or not drawing enough power so I removed -1 Suffocate and -2 Derry Cathain, Ripclaw Rider and replaced them with +3 Strategize and the deck has been incredibly consistent for me now.
well the suffocate is very good and important. The derrys are expendabel and can be other thigns btu the deck tends to be a bit at the risk of falling behind early hence the derrys which block well early and make a good threat later. Strategize does not really get u much extra steam since it is a one for one but sure if u have spare power it gives u additional action.
I lose a lot of games to Xenan Obelisk, to me that is the biggest threat against this deck because at some point turning creatures into pigs is actually a hassle. Disjunction works well but they usually have more than one thanks to the market. Any tips on being more consistent against Token decks? Have played on and off since beta but never actually tried to climb ladder and I'd like to grind to master this season.
drawing more than one obelisk in a game until really late is rarely the case and one obelisk alone does not break the deck. u also have harbingers to fly over and win in the air. and drawing tons of extra cards with feastcallers also helps a lot to overpower other decks so does cirsos choice to wipe token decks. it is important to be aggressive and pressure them and force them to trad etheir board vs a single fatty and the lieks to keep them from building big boards u cant attack into any more.
That is unfortunate but should just be variance if u look at the power count the amount is more than sufficient. deck runs 30 power plus 8 accelerants and 9 scouts sources. but yeah cant go wrong with combrei :)
thanks, will do! :)
I just crafted the Cirso and Cleaver for this awesome list. I was wondering if you have given any thought to an updated deck now that the meta has shaken up a bit. Have You played it recently ? Any insight you can offer? Thanks for the fun deck and great content!
I have not played it lately but it should be pretty well positioned right now actually. Don't see any urgent needs for update. deck is fine as is if maybe not perfect.
Wow! Great Deck ManuS! I feel like I’m trying to Pilot this insanely powerful deck, but it’s so wild that I can’t keep my grip! Lot’s of potential. I almost exclusively die to being boned getting enough power against aggressive decks. Tried a bunch of other variants, to eventually end up back at the base deck again. I did notice a measurable win increase with my first swap: Equivicate into deck from market for a Crest of Wisdom. Took out a Dark Return to make the room. This last dark return feels kinda lonely...
Thanks! :)
I think you really need a cheap removal in the market that both Merchants can get. You really cant cut equivocate. If u really want more power than just add one main. Market slots especially with so many merchants are way too precious. deck also alrdy runs 30 power plus 8 ramp dudes and some scout stuffy to help out. u can always get power screwed sometimes due to variance even if u have sufficient power. But yeah if u feel like it is not enough overall add it main.
Hello, thank you for the deck. It has costed me almost all the shiftstone I had left but it was worth it as I currently have a >75% winrate with it. The only change I made since I often got stuck with power or influence problems in my first games is replacing circo’s choice with Elysian banner and i’m really happy with it, it is 50% of the time my first choice in market.
Cirso's choice is pretty important vs aggro and token decks often. I had a crest in the market for a while but with 38 power between units and actual power u really dont need that. variance still exists even if ur powerbase is "safe"
Idk the trail makers make the influcen uber safe. deck has like 24 P in a 3F deck and 18-22 T and i think 16-20 S it really doesnt get better than that. most 2f decks dont have 24 for any influence and usually like 20 for one and 17 for the other. in addition the deck run 30 power plus 8 ramp units meaning overall 38 sources of power if u still get stuck on 4 thats just tough luck and not super likely. like how much power do u want to play?^^
This is probably a bad idea, but is there any way to get savage denial in the deck? I guess sabotage is better and would handle that most of the time if you get it. Seems like I am mostly loosing to fast spells...stand together, finest hour, torch and so on.
aweful idea yeah. the card is SUPER narrow. there is often only one ok target in each deck at best. it is unfortunetly sooooo much worse than dispel in MTG. not sure how any of these specifically make u lose. they are all fairly low impact situational stuff. torch is not very good vs the deck, finest hour neither if u dont run head on into it or if u do have a back up annihilate/equivocate for the blow out. and yeah stand is a good card and can be annoying for decks btu for that u have cleaver kilelr and big blocker and harbinger to pop the aegis and its also not easy ot set up enough units vs a removal deck to actually play a threatening stand and the only major stand deck was TJP with 2 usually. So id recommend playing more with those cards in mind and around them rather than into them. that together with sabotage should fix ur woes. finest hour and torch are both cards i am happy to face with a deck like this since they are almost actively bad vs it. finest hour looks pretty bad vs fast removal or cirso/cleaver. and torch can only kill trail maker.
Played around with this for about 20 games and found this deck to be a tad on the slow side against more aggressive matchups. Quite a lot of the current decks gave me trouble most importantly the berserk and alessi decks. If the deck manages to stabilize, then Cirso and his cleaver have no problem outgrinding almost any other deck but as you said even in the deck tech, its kinda slow getting there. So i played around with it for a bit mostly based on what cards were sitting useless in my hand with me wishing they were something else. I cut the 2 dark returns as i found them too slow to make an imapct in this mostly fast paced meta and I also cut one BSH in favor of 3 Vara´s choices. The choice performed really well for me so far as it completely shuts down a lot of otherwise problematic units that avoided both annihilate and suffocate such as alessi. I´m also currently tinkering with swapping market around to include either one more high end threat, banish or a fourth copy of Vara´s choice.
EDIT: currently experimenting with blistering wasp instead of Derry
wasp if an ok option but the problem is it makes ur weaker matchups worse namely decks like FJS for example. i dont like choice at all it is very slow and reactive and bad as a bounce spell and i really dont want to play a bad 2 cost unit discards spell when u have plenty of good tempo efficient removal options. would not recommend running that. rindra's choice is much better than varas for what u mentioned in addition tot he equivocates that alrdy do that and the cleavers. but sure playing 2 rindras over 2 dark return doesnt seem unreasonable. and derry is also a debatable slot. cutting harbigner does not seem good tho. being a flyer and a much needed source of health gain and also sweeping random units is important. the market needs no more high end threat it alrdy has cirso and cleaver and disjunction for cleaver and a deck full of beefy threats. banish is bad cause it is a fairly bad card and not fetchable by both but if u prefer its upside over the upside of disjunction thats a fine swap i guess but leaves u with no out to sth like gift which tbf isnt much of a concern atm so that seems like an ok swap. and yeah not sure why u r so high on what amounts to a slightly better abduct when u have actual removal which is much better for a deck playing from behind especially vs fast decks.
Thanks for the recommendation of rindras choice. It somehow eluded me that i could actually play it. You are probably right in that it does most of the things i swapped Vara´s choice in for. Swapping banish for disjuction worked fine for me as I havent encountered that many high cost relics in the current meta and if they gift you, chances are the matchup is lost anyway so the added bonus of it also being unit removal helps in some matchups with no relics at all. The wasps worked fine for me so far but you are right in saying that in some matchups they are less useful. I´ll keep tinkering.
you are welcome. i think choice is massively overrated and if a 2 cost discard spell isnt good in general u shouldnt run it. and i think right now format isnt too kind to spending 2 power on 0 board impact.now u can even consider running some permafrost again but not sure if or how many u want. the banish change is fine but more because rebuying cleaver and gift dont come up a lot and gives u some additional options in return. if they gift u u can easily kill it before it triggers the first time if u have a merchant in hand. it is a bit narrow of a situation but having it helps. but yeah definitely not a priority. but merchant+banish being rather than 5 is likely the biggest downside alongside idk not being able to kill frost.

And thank you for your appreciation and kind words. Glad to help
Glad you enjoying it and congrats on the climb :)

Im having troubles in getting to mid game, usually im being overwhelmed early...
Potential causes: bad luck, bad matchups, bad play/keeps :)
