The ShiftstonedEternal Power Calculator is a deck-building tool that visualizes your odds of drawing enough Influence and Power based specifically on the cards found in your deck.
I really like mono Shadow and liked the cards in this deck so I crafted what I was lacking (1 Mazag and the 3 Vishnis). I soon however, discovered that I don't have a firm grasp of the strategy of this deck. I suppose I can probably figure it out by trial and error but any plan/hints/tips/tricks that you can offer would be greatly appreciated! Either way thanks for posting this intriguing recipe!
In general, this deck is about sacrificing enemy or replaceable units with Ashara. Void recursion and elf tokens are intended help make Ashara not as punishing. Mazag is in this deck because no one uses it and I had them. However, there are fun interactions that you can do with sacing an enemy unit or a unit that would have died to Ashara anyway. When piloting the deck you need to know whether you out value your opponent or if its the reverse. Depending on that situtation you can tempo with multiple elves and Tavia or play for a longer game where you can use Big Vara to win either with elves or wisps.
I've been adding and removing cards here and there to try to make it optimal, but I don't think I'm there yet. I did not have 4 Visni or Tavia when I played this deck, but I can see one of each replacing the Mazag (sorry you crafted). Olly is hit or miss for me, especially since it has 1 life and gives things void bound. Maybe more removal/counters instead of Olly would work.
Edit: For the market, I think stray into shadows is wrong. I was playing against a bunch of aggro/mid-range decks and thought it would help, but I was always dead before I could play it. Desecrate also contributed to this. Burlgarize, Dizo's Office, ICB, etc would probably be better.
