I've played ~30 gauntlets with this and only lost once to the sudden death boss. A little sprinkle of waxing moon into a Mother of Skies deck makes it nice and spicy, and Iadria basically wins games by itself since the AI is too stupid and only takes into account current attack values when blocking with units.

My guess is to grab Harbinger to ping for deadly when waxing moon is in play.

Correct, it is mainly to grab Harbinger for deadly pings. It's also helpful for grabbing Champion of Cunning or Iadria in some cases. Originally I had it to grab Krull, but it was incredibly useful still even after removing Krull from the deck. And there is enough market access and plunder to swap/transform them if you don't need them.

Iadria's text, deadly units from Waxing Moon, and tokens from Mother of Skies means you can almost always stall the board for five turns to blow the game open with Champion of Cunning or Harbinger.
