Latest Update
March 22
Main Feature
Most recent update is the variant /u/steevo15 came up with that we have both taken to Masters as of March 18th.
The deck revolves entirely around Killer and abusing reanimate interactions with
Dawnwalker
Snapping Brushstalker
Slap killer on both of them and you have almost infinite removal that is in itself, very difficult to remove. Feel free to sacrifice
Dawnwalker to
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker or trade liberally. Killer enablers are:
Twilight Hunt
Xenan Initiation
General Play
Once the engine is started, the interactions are very difficult to play around in the current meta as a killer enabled
Snapping Brushstalker is ridiculous. They are immune to board wipes, any spell removal, or in the case of
Snapping Brushstalker, any spell silence. Additionally, Brushstalker is an amazing blocker as it's immune to combat tricks. Block generously!
Early game
Fast curve includes
Initiate of the Sands into a turn two
Amaran Stinger or
Dawnwalker.
Amaran Armadillo and
Teacher of Humility will keep the board under consistent early game pressure. Draw out as many fast spells from the opponent as you can early on.
Friendly Wisp will help with card draw using Brushstalker and
Sandstorm Titan to easily enable draw.
Auralian Merchant can work as a big worst case blocker but should be held until it can fetch market answers.
You should be racing to get a
Dawnwalker on board with killer as fast as possible. I've found it most effective to hold onto your
Snapping Brushstalker until your opponent is out of power or out of cards to ensure your
Twilight Hunt applies effectively.
Mid Game
Around turn 5-6, should have at least 1-2 killer enabled walkers or stalkers.
Twilight Hunt gets a nice +1/+1 bonus on the stalkers and be careful about opponent power as any fast response spell will negate an attempted killer on stalker.
Amaran Armadillo and
Infinite Hourglass are there to allow your
Dawnwalker to block immediately. Remember to attack liberally with the Scorpions provided by
Amaran Stinger once they have endurance!
With
Xenan Obelisk on field,
Snapping Brushstalker is able to remove almost all untwinked units in the game. Additionally,
Scorpion Wasp can act as a surprise reanimator late game.
At this point it's just grinding out the opponent by forcing difficult removal choices with easily consistent pressure.
Late Game
For long games against control, I've found that if you put killer on
Lumen Reclaimer, it will make ALL future copies also have killer and prevent you from getting decked out and you can flood the board easily.
Matchups (work in progress)
* Reanimator --> Rush to
Lumen Reclaimer to clear their graveyard. Is able to easily handle Rank Reanimator (Tweaked)
* Aggro --> To stem the snowball effect, trade as much as possible early game by using your killer enablers freely on your 1-3 cost units.
Market Choices
Lumen Reclaimer --> Most cards in this deck are re-usable. Use this for long games or to clear opponents discard piles when playing Shadow
Infinite Hourglass --> Get rid of those pesky stuns and enable Dawn walkers on turn one
Passage of Eons --> Mass silence/relic destruction
Snapping Brushstalker --> Killer combo piece
Xenan Initiation --> Killer combo piece
