So, I've seen the Kennadin lists floating around, and they looked fun so I tried to build one. I had built an
End of the Barrel and
End of Hostilities version of the deck and was having moderate success. Some key issues I identified during this period were the lack of sweepers in the deck due to the large amount of grenadin, and in general a lack of ability to stall the game until you can play a
Kenna, Shaman of the Scale safely to combo off and take over the game.
I then switched to playing a FJP Armory deck and a Charge Rod deck. Both of these relied heavily on
Icaria, the Liberator to finish the game, but I still found that was not putting up the results I wanted consistently. I decided to smash all of these decks together to attempt to solve the deficiencies or at least have a blast in the process.
I won't claim this deck is great, but depending on matchups this can win or lose pretty insane streaks. In addition to key components of the mentioned decks, I added
Rizahn, Greatbow Master as another win condition and a way to catch up against aggressive decks. In addition to the
Combustion Cells to trigger tribute, I kept some
Bulletshapers to get additional ramp into early Rizahns or to stall against tokens. It can also be fed to
Combustion Cell in a pinch.
End of Hostilities can target any of the win conditions, and is absurdly powerful with tribute. Against Time decks it is often correct to copy their big stuff.
Speaking of tribute, I've included a few
Flamestokers in order to add a reliable sacrifice source to
Combustion Cell. I've also kept the
Spark Hatchers from Kennadin since they can be sacrificed multiple times and can even "survive" a sweeper.
End of the Story is one of the best cards in the End cycle, and I'm surprised it's not played in more decks. Worst case, it's slightly worse than
Harsh Rule. Best case, it completely ruins Feln control and any Icaria decks. To top it all off, if it needs to be used, there's no reason not to use a
Combustion Cell.
I've opted not to include a market for a few reasons. Mainly, I'm bad at building them. I also didn't want to devote deck slots to the merchants, which don't contribute to the game plan. If I were to use the market, I would include
Jennev Merchant only because the deck struggles against early game
Torches and it can pull double duty. A rough market might include
Permafrost and
Tend the Flock for additional tokens. Moving a Kenna to the market may also be an option.
