This is my favorite deck in Expedition right now, and it's still fairly rare to see despite the fact that several players did use the archetype to Top 64 the latest ECQ. This version is based on stuff I learned and tested after I saw all of their lists.
First of all, let's go over the basic reasoning on why to choose Rakano. Essentially, this boils down to 2 key pieces: the recently buffed
Kira, the Prodigy and
Jekk, Mercenary Hunter. Kira has become one of the most underrated 2-drops in the game and has the ability to win games on her own if left unchecked, but if that's the case, then why not use the full Unseen package in Argenport? Well, the answer is simply that Jekk is the meta-warping card in both Throne and Expedition, and for the most part, if you're not playing him, you're doing something wrong.
So then all that's left is how to build the deck, and we want an aggressive shell that curves out and finishes the opponent quickly. However, in my experience you don't want to compete with Praxis Aggro directly at their game, so I built the deck to be slightly greedier with a punchier top end. In the end, I split
Tattoo Dragon and
Crimson Firemaw to help me get over the finish line.
Matchups:
Praxis Aggro - Unless they get a slow start, you need to play defensively and finish them with a timely Jekk or flier.
Cozin Darkheart is extremely useful here, so try to play her as soon as possible. This matchup feels like it should be favorable with this build, but in reality, Praxis Aggro is so strong on the play that the games mostly feel like a coin flip.
Everything else - Congrats, you are now the beat down deck. Go face and finish these guys.
