Currently 16-4 in low masters. I think this deck is very strong in the current meta. I also think it's a fresh new take on Jund.
The basic plan for this deck is to 2 for 1 your opponents cards and dismantle their hand.
This deck aims to take it's time and maintain card advantage. Try not to rush a game but to rather wait out your opponent and slowly constrict their hand.
If your opponent goes to the market, you can use
Mug to force a discard of what they have traded for and disrupt their game plan i.e. site , relic etc. This simply stratergy will win you games. If you have
Mug in your hand and they haven't used their market yet then leave the card in your hand and dont rush it. If you have two
Mugs use it to remove any card which gains 2 for 1 advantage i.e.
Wisdom of the Elders,
Display of Ambition or merchants. Also, consider what cards you force the opponent to discard in relation to
Statuary Maiden. For example, if they have a
Dark Return in hand and only one minion, try to be patient and use
Statuary Maiden to invalidate their Dark Return. Once again, constricting their hand.
We also want to 2 for 1 our opponents by using
Harsh Rule early in the game. Let your opponent take board control and then eliminate 2-3 units with HR. Ideally, you want Stat Maiden on the board to generate max value. Also, Dont worry about HR'ing your own units, we can get 2 for 1 back later with DoA.
Before or after a HR, you want to use
Holdup for max value. Very few decks can recover from being 2 for 1'ed by harsh rule and then 2 for 1'ed by Holdup. If you had Stat Maiden on the board when you HR'ed it's basically game over at this point you'll have card advantage and their void will be empty (important in this recursion meta). If they play a unit after HR and have cards left, use Holdup and just let the unit hit you for a turn. We have time and life steal on our hands.
An ideal play looks like this;
Lost scroll ->Stat Maiden -> Hold up -> Harsh Rule.
Maiden is great as she is very difficult to remove. Once you have generated cudgels, use them to trade for market cards but don't equip maiden as you expose her up to vanquish etc.
From the pilot's perspective, we have card advantage in the form of
Display of Ambition and
Xo of the Endless Hoard. Try to use the market to maintain card advantage by swapping Xo in and out. Try to hold off on using DoA as an offenisve spell (i.e. 1 for 1) and rather try to use it to return two minions (2 for 1).
Each of the minions in this deck works as a 2 for 1.
Vara, Vengeance-Seeker ,
Statuary Maiden and
Xo of the Endless Hoard all help to provide card advantage when drawn.
Rizahn, Greatbow Master or Harshrule can be interchanged with the sideboard depending on the Meta.
Phoenix Stone could replace Tomb in the market. I''m still testing this. Stone can be used for 5 to destroy any site played (flying, charge 4/4). I'm just sussing whether it's worth more value to play tomb.
