A Xenan deck with an ambush theme. Xenan is in a really good place. So good, in fact, that I crafted a bunch of Xenan cards to make this deck, so it will likely be nerfed before I finish writing this description. This deck wants to play reactively instead of proactively, packed with ambush units and fast spells along with a few cards that reward it.
The Promo: Coslo, Friendly Scavenger - If people were playing aggro before, they certianly aren't anymore. 1/5 body with ambush that kills all attacking units with 2 attack or less. He's vulnerable once he attacks, but his attack also mills you for five. This is a weird ability, but we could make it work. This deck features 3 Coslos, so if you've been doing your quest this week, you should be able to craft it already. Also featured are two Eremot's Machinations, which will bring back all but two of your units for more fun.
Ambush: Damara, Deft Saboteur - Steals market cards and hits sites.
Desert Alchemist - Plunder, deadly, and ambush. What's not to like?
Ayan, Dark Conduit - Steals power once you have enough time influence. 1/4 decay isn't bad, either.
Scorpion Wasp - For flying threats.
Gentle Grazer - This hits just about everything in the deck. Just be careful about pulling an Annihilate.
Ambush payoffs: Sewer Crocodile - 0/6 body that gets bigger for each card you play on your opponent's turn, and it decays. This is a beast.
Desperate Courier - Cards cost 1 less on your opponent's turn. A cleverer man would put a 6-cost card or two into the market to fetch with Crack the Earth while this gal's out. I am not a cleverer man.
Market: The market spots are pretty fluid, except for Grodov's Burden. Lumen Defense is kind of bad, but in a fun way when you're playing against aggro (which is never, now). Induce Madness is a total win-more card for when Severin comes into play.
7/11 UPDATE! After feedback and self-evaluation, I've decided to update the deck to provide more consistency and not lock you out of the market when Desperate Courier is on the field. I think a 2-3 mix of 6- and 5-cost cards is reasonable. Grodov's Stranger and Touvon, Skybreak Giant are my personal picks, but Icaria, First Reaper is a solid contender also. To help with consistency, I've added Devour, taking out Magnificent Stranger.
