I typically post my competitive decks after I reach Masters for the season, but I'm making an exception this time around. I'm moving soon, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to play this season, and would like folks to enjoy the list as much as I have.
I started at Bronze1 the season earlier today and have been climbing quickly, currently G1. I will update everything again at Masters. Since I stated keeping track, my record is 32-8, or 75% win-rate, even with improvements to be made to the deck. This is pretty much the initial list I started with.
We are basically trying to sneak in big relic weapons into play as quickly as possible, with some additional big cost card goodness. The two ways to cheat cards into play being Unlock the Vault
and Okessa Málaga
. Crack to Earth into Okessa is really really strong. You can go for turn 4 EOT Crack, with only one creature in play, and on your turn 5 play a huge relic. Or just on 6 power, Crack and Okessa the same turn. You have two different ways to discard cards for Vault, both of which fill your curve very well.
I played Reactor in the deck at first, but it really didn't need it. It was more of a liability than an asset. That being said however, there was one super broken element about it. When Shavka's Embrace
dies at the end of your turn, you just get to keep all the cards you draw. That paired incredibly well with Forge. That lesson still applies without it though, if you are going to take damage at the end of your turn (say because of an opponent's Karvet) make sure you hit another 6 power creature if it's available.
Things I'd like to improve:
- I would like more undepleated power for sure, haven't worked on that very much yet
- Azindel's Gift
should probably be one more Dracoshaman Circlet
or Shugo's Hooked Sword
. It originally started as a 3 of, and has been dwindling quickly. The main problem is that there is too much aegis in the metagame
- The Market market still needs a bit of work. There is power in there as of recently, because I kept wanting to grab one with Smuggler
Update: Some small changes as I find some time to get a few games in here and there.
Azindels gift is out for now, upped the Grenadin land because it kept being the best draw in a few games I played. Removed the land from market and added a card again go wide strategies, as they are pretty strong against big relic weapons.
Alright, we broke things further. Volatility is now in the Market. So, now smuggler can tutor Unlock the Vault and Nahid's Distillations
This is the final list imo, I'm not sure that there are more improvements to be made.
