With the slowing down of the meta, I noticed that many of my unit-based decks were losing badly to control decks with tons of removal - not only FJS Removal Pile, but also Feln Control as well. What's the best counter to removal spells? Aegis! I then noticed that another tournament deck had a Houru build that used Paladin Oathbook. I suddenly realized - Oathbook with Aegis is really good, because it protects your one attacker from being destroyed and you wasting your entire turn. Since most of the best Houru cards are Unseen, you can have a minor tribal theme as well. Thus, this deck. Notes on a few card choices:
Darkveil Agent - This is one of two ways in the deck to give Aegis to other units. It often becomes a removal magnet, which lets your other cards survive.
Crownwatch Paladin - there is no stronger opening for this deck than first turn
Crownwatch Paladin, second turn
Paladin Oathbook. Obvious two drop for this deck.
Paladin Oathbook - more than any other card, if I get this relic out early, I usually win. If I get two, it's almost certainly a blowout win. So powerful, particularly in the current meta.
Strategize - a bit of card drawing and shuffling, at a cheap price.
Hooru Pacifier - every bit as good as advertised. Very tough to kill, and can shut down certain decks (for example, if I see this card against Argenport Midrange, and they don't kill it, I usually win).
Spellshield Architect - this card has been a revelation. It can be good on its own, but when you use it to recharge
Shelterwing Rider, it gets even better.
Shelterwing Rider - everyone loves this card, but I think you need multiple ways of replenishing Aegis for it to be good. Against many decks, they have easy ways to pop the Aegis, and then you've paid 4 for a 0/5 wall. Note that try to buff this card up with the Oathbook when you can - even if it gets Aegis removed, it can still attack, and with the Oathbook it will still get larger and larger.
Lida, Most Skilled - A card I'm somewhat on the fence about, as she's a bit expensive for what she does. However, her Killer ability has allowed me to remove pesky opposing units (particularly Unseen Commando[card[, and she's not a bad way to top the curve.
I used this deck to go from Gold to Diamond 2. Obviously it's not great in a heavily weenie meta, but it works pretty well right now.
