Rebel Yell - Chapter 18

Now this I can work with

The meta shifted a lot during Chapter 18, so this deck went through a number of iterations. This is the version I finished the month with, peaking at Rank 16.

Basically this is a Valkyrie tribal list that also relies on some Weapon synergy. It is built around a few of The Dusk Road and Dead Reckoning's more interesting but less popular cards: Battlefield Scavenger, Rooftop Vigilante, Sower of Dissent and Icaria, Valkyrie Captain.

The general idea is to get extra value from your units through: Warcy, cost-reduction and the Ultimate from Icaria, Valkyrie Captain. At the same time you are controlling the board with Deadly units, flyers and Relic Weapons.

Eighteen potential Warcry triggers help to ensure that you will nearly always gain from Sower of Dissent's ability. And at four power, Battlefield Scavenger's Ultimate is inexpensive enough that you can often play the Tinker Rogue and use him to bring back one of your Valks on the same turn. All the better if it is a Valk that has been buffed or reduced in cost.

Like a 1-cost 11/11 Icaria, the Liberator for instance.



Arm Yourself

Six relic weapons plus four additional weapons mean that you can reliably expect to draw extra cards from Oni Quartermaster. But she is even more efficient when you have one or more 1-cost Stone Cudgels generated by Statuary Maiden in hand. Things get really interesting if you have these two on the board at the same time for more than a turn or so.

Stone Cudgels, Ornate Katana and Hammer of Might are also great for giving any of your units Deadly as long as you have Rooftop Vigilante in play.

Rise Up

Most decks that include Icaria, the Liberator tend to build around her, but in this case she is really more of a welcome finisher rather than a centerpiece. Your early game consists of units and weapons instead of removal spells and card draw.

Here you want to be aggressive from the start, and rely on the Liberator only when the game goes long. In those situations, Copperhall Porter and the Ultimate from Icaria, Valkyrie Captain will help you to hit that JJJ influence in time.

Back to the skies with you

Speaking of Justice influence, the JJJJJJ requirement for Icaria, Valkyrie Captain's buff is quite steep. Realistically you will not play mini-Icaria from hand as a 4/3 most games. However, in games that go long I found it was more common than you might expect.

This is especially true when you have the option to bring her back from the Void with Battlefield Scavenger's Ultimate. A 4/3 flyer with Endurance and Warcry for 2 power can be a huge swing at any stage of the game, especially when paired with a Weapon.
