Hi guys!
Today I bring you a list using
Divining Rod, a very interesting card that was used in one of the TGC eSPorts Weekley on September 28th by Shookum who was second in the tournament, losing to a Burn Queen in the final.
Deck list:
Surprise Rod
With the release of the new cards and the modifications on certain cards I decided to set up a list more focused on the Control, I gave up some creatures that did not bring benefits when targeted by the Divining Rod, although they are useful in the composition of the list, they are not useful as target for our key card.
Of the cards removed from the list the only one I find very interesting, regardless of coming from the Divining Rod is the
Heart of the Vault, who knows with more tests I can find space for 2 or 3 copies, for now they remain as possible additions.
A quick glance at the list already shows that it differs a lot from its predecessor, the presence of more cheap removals like
Vanquish,
Purify give the necessary to hold the initial several aggros that infest the goal, in the MidGame we have the popular
Harsh Rule added the
Valkyrie Enforcer versatility to stay alive and get to the late game where our Divining Rod can shine , we still have two copies of
Silverwing Familiar, a good target for our rod, why besides putting almost all the units of the list in the field (possibly) still leaves us with a flying 4/4 lifesteal in the field.
Breaking the strategy:
The deck behaves like a control practically throughout the match, only leaving this line when we will execute the combo with the Divining Rod, these are the tools for this control:
Single Removals -
Torch,
Purify and
Vanquish
Mass Removals -
Harsh Rule
Silence -
Valkyrie Enforcer
The combo:
It is clear that the best interaction for the deck is
Divining Rod +
Alluring Ember, but we have good combinations with Silverwing or Valkyrie, both give a good chance of putting cards like
Icaria, the Liberator and
Soulfire Drake in play, as well as more copies of them, only
Kaleb, Uncrowned Prince does not it benefits the rod in this situation, but even so this move can be of great help.
Good for now is that, I hope you have enjoyed the list and that mainly test and leave feedback if possible, the list is still more aimed at Casual, I do not know if one day it will be competitive but if it depends on me to test it and we'll have a tier 2 at least.
PS: Side Into Ranked
Some changes to the list are necessary to take on the Ranked infested with aggro decks, like Burn Queen and Skygro, in the tests that I did these modifications help a lot to survive in the initial turns and still maintain the consistent list for the late game:
Out - 1x
Seek Power, 3x
Vanquish, 3x
Amber Acolyte
In - 3x
Copperhall Bailiff, 2x
Sword of Icaria and 2x
Combrei Healer
These are changes for you to make in the side in of the championships, counting that you have the courage to take this list to one, but may well help if you are facing a lot of Burn Queen like me.
Until the next guys, sorry for the bad english, blame google translate!
It's good to know you're enjoying the changes, as you've said before, they're needed to improve our chances against aggro decks that are infesting Ranked.
Power layout/retrieval feels very smooth. I was very rarely struggling to hit my influences on curve.
Most of my losses, and thus the weakest point of this deck type, was from a hand of unplayable late-game cards early, but there's nothing you can really do to fix that. Just a weakness of this archetype.
Very fun and reasonably successful on ladder.
Find the Way seems the best card to adjust the list to the meta with, though it can really help mid-game to hit the 3/2/3 influence you need late-game.
Edit: Oh, and I've been running this the last couple of days in the 1000-800 Ranks in Masters.
