When trying to find a home for Sodi, the Metamorph, I immediately looked to a low-curve aggro deck built around
Sodi's Spellshaper. However, the prohibitive influence requirements really hold Sodi back in an aggro deck, and don't fully capitalize on the replenish effect.
Ramp, on the other hand, was perfect.
Greenstretch Empath lets you abuse the replenishing of power to the fullest, and once the deck gets going it quickly reaches inevitability.
Blitrok, Linrei's Listener is an alternate win condition that helps stabilize and giving an excellent power sink for all the power it produces.
Once you go off, just Smuggler/Mirror Image Smuggler via Gleaming Shield to fetch
Crystallize and swing with a huge board. The deck is very fun and quite solid, I highly recommend it.
A few notes:
I tried
Sol's Rest, and while I think the card has potential here, it's also very win-more at the same time, and a leaner win condition like
Crystallize that actually helps you close the game is likely just better, although !card Nap Time is always fun.
The market needs improving, likely
Storm Spiral to help with the aggro matchup. The deck does not support
Sodi's Spellshaper well, but having a spellcraft attachment in the market to help trigger muster on the relatively-cheap has proven to be somewhat important. Hourglass might be a better fit here, as it's very good with
Great Valley Smuggler.
Update 12/10/19:
Slingshot added to proc muster cheaply, Waystone Fragment trimmed due to clunkiness. Might bump to 2 because the life gain is relevant, 2 Scorpion Wasp is the flex slot.
Update 15/10/19:
After further testing I'm trying a small cultist package with
High Prophet of Sol and
Eager Offering. It speeds up the early game considerably and keeps the hand full while giving some more board presence. I feel like this a pretty promising step in the development of this deck.
I considered splashing for a third faction, but ultimately tried to solve the deck's problems within Elysian cardpool. I'm not eliminating it as an option, but the influence is pretty rough and the presence of Insignia undepleted is pretty important.
Update 25/10/19:
Cut
Gleaming Shield completely for now, as I've found it pretty win-more, and moved
Sodi's Spellshaper to the main as a full playset. Spellshaper is crucial for several reasons:
1) Often, this deck just needs one more turn to stabilize. Spellshaper gives you the time you need for this.
2) The draws where you go 2-drop dork into two more 2-drops on turn 3 are very strong, and Spellshaper makes these happen more often.
3) The deck already has
Waystone Fragment on 7, and having another 7 in the form of Shield was very clunky. The lifegain and additional board presence is much more valuable to this deck when it is stabilizing, and makes little difference when it is already winning.
4) Spellshaper with Blitrok is kind of a combo, which is definitely useful.
I believe the addition of Spellshaper makes this deck a lot better, and I've been winning with it pretty consistently. If
Gleaming Shield returns, it will be in the market, but for now I'm testing
Infinite Hourglass because of its strength with
Great Valley Smuggler.
