Information

Just hit masters with this deck. Very simple playstyle. Just drop powerful stuff on curve. Aegis units are great weapon carriers and can be hard for the opponent to deal with.

I found the matchup with the variations of howling peak decks very good. They need to use a lot of their removal to deal with our units and considering they don't play many units themselves by the time Xo hits the board you pretty much have all your removal ready to go. Hitting howling peaks is easy to hit with the fliers.

Rakano aggro can quickly swoop under you if you don't manage to keep up in the first few turns. I'd say the matchup is in favour of the opponent.

Skycrag aggro is fairly even IMO, its not as explosive as rakano so it's easier to stay on top of. If you can grind out the first several turns it's fairly easy after that once you have big aegis fliers. They can still steal games early on though.

I feel like these are the main 3 decks worth mentioning. There was other decks on the ladder but these 3 were very prominent. The next deck I saw a lot of was different variations of xenan (save avigraft for vara)

Can't see a reason not to use Feast-Caller over Aniyah here? Unless she is significantly better at the 5 spot
Moobteet Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
I think you can play both comfortably. I did initially have him in there over her but after playtesting with aniyah I just liked her better. While the card draw from jotun is nice you don't really burn through your hand quick with this deck and I rarely found myself in a top deck situation begging for more cards. An aniyah with an elders feather or inquisitors blade can end games.

I love me any deck with Linebreaker's Shield.

How useful would you say Duelist's Blade has been for you? I'm really tempted to replace it with a fourth Aniyah, since she seems to be the primary bomb. Considering you're obviously more experienced with the deck though, I'd be grateful for any insight you could pass along. Great deck by the way! I'm a big lover of Hooru, and this midrange list suits my play style as well!

duelist blade is really just in there as a worse auric runehammer. i didnt go into it much but it is nice for dealing with 4 or less health aegis unit like jotun feastcaller, or a surprise hit to the opponent's face for game. i would rather play auric runehammer but you cant grab it with jennev merchant and i dont like winchest merchant, we also dont have a hooru smuggler yet. as for aniyah shes great and is nice to see her but i never felt like a really needed one when i didnt have one in hand. shes dealt with pretty quickly by the opponent unless you can renown her almost straight away. if your looking for just her utility as a stun i would put entangling vines in the market over her, probably in place of polymorph. all that said, im no expert and im sure there's people wiser than me that could have a different opinion. thanks for taking a look at the deck!

Thank you for such a detailed reply! I can totally see the reason for the judgement call, and yeah, it's bizarre that there is no Hooru smuggler. Also, you're quite right about Aniyah: in truth (though she is of course a good card), her immediate impact is no different from a Permafrost, and a quick spell stun can be even more advantageous depending on the situation. I love the classic Hooru flier archetype, and this is a really great twist; I actually saved a copy of your deck, but then I found myself heading in a different direction (in a second copy). The core deck still remains, but I added and subtracted a number of cards. I'm nowhere near top rankings, so the meta I'm entrenched in is more... forgiving hah. That said, when I do (hopefully) reach higher ranks this season, I'm definitely going to switch to your version. Thanks again for the great deck and the kind and thorough reply! Great deck and great user hah!

Not problem mate. Something to keep in mind that I still forget sometimes is to be carefull summoning sheriff marley if you lost a unit that turn and the opponent has only 1 unit with 1 of your permafrost on it, her tribute effectwill force you to silence it and give back their unit. Enjoy the deck! I have been.
Vesalius86 Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
Thanks! That's a great tip I wouldn't have considered!

This is really neat. I'll have to give it a shot once I have the stone to spare for Aniyah

Looks like a fun deck. This seems like it would be really frustrating for all the removal pile decks in high Diamond and Masters.
Moobteet Edited Eternal Version: 1.42
That was the idea. They need to double down on removal to remove a unit. And board wipes are easier to avoid as it's hard for the opponent to pop 2 hailstorms or harsh rules in the same turn and even then they need two copies of the card to do so. It does happen but it usually buys you a turn and after they pop the first it's usually obvious there's a second coming on their next turn.
