This is my take on the Evenhanded Golem deck for Gauntlet. The plan is simple: drop the best 2 cost creature we have, then the next best and follow up with removal, pump or a 4 drop to overwhelm the AI. I tried to build the deck with a higher curve using Veteran Mercenary and Caiphus but I kept dropping the curve to make it more reliable and this list is where I ended up. I have found this list to be both fast and consistent going 35-0 in my last five runs beating Limitless Possibilites twice Order of the Spire twice and Sudden Death once. The game I lost before that I drew one unit which the AI removed then all power and pumps from there.
I tried using some of the other special lands but ultimately didn't want to give up any consistency. Any chance that you can't play one of your double influence units on turn 2 is detrimental to your win rate. Don't use Last Chance unless you need to get back a key player in the match or until you know what unit gives you the best route to victory or you need the cards from Evenhanded Golem. Memory Dredger can return any unit other than Vara or another Dredger and you can use the AI's insistence on blocking well against it to give you back your Evenhanded Golems or whatever else. Use the Rapid Shots and Cabal Standards as removal and if you really need it lifegain with one of the lifesteal units until you get within range to use them to kill the AI.
Annihilate and Desecrate let us play removal and a unit on turn 4 in many games and thus gaining us insurmountable tempo in most of those games. I used In Cold Blood as a 2 of 4 cost removal because the Void bound aspect is good against many of the AI decks, but you could use Deathstrike if you prefer the fast spell or even Deadly Confrontation since Deadly Assassin is an Unseen.
There are 32 two cost units in this deck and Blackhall Warleader is the all star in most matchups. If you can get a few triggers with her then drop a Golem and draw a few other units it puts you way ahead in most games. Pay attention to what the AI plays and try to play your units in the order that best counters the AI plays or just puts the most pressure on if it isn't keeping up with you. I don't usually play the Golem until I need the card draw unless I am trying to bait out removal since any other unit is better at gaining us tempo. Vara helps with both Aggro and Control decks as she always does.
If you try this out let me know how it does for you. Good luck and Happy Boss Hunting!
Thanks for the deck, I'm gonna try it out
