While nothing like the legacy MTG deck named after the Bob Dylan song, the Eternal version actually has a card named "Quinn" with
Quinn, Lone Wanderer, a card that I have been determined to figure out how to use effectively. She is also kind of like an Eskimo since she is an explorer...and a gunslinger for some reason. Maybe that is supposed to be a reference to the Denzel Washington movie that featured the song. She is really good though. A 7/7 that draws a card is really good for 6 mana (similar to
Heart of the Vault but not as good, although I like Quinn more anyway) and the recursion is actually very relevant. The problem is that the good renown cards want you to be aggressive, but Quinn is more for grinding out games. Plus it is hard to be too aggressive when in 3 factions.
This deck has a lot of synergies. I tested many variations and pretty much every renown card and enabler I could think of. Many options are powerful but pull the deck in too many directions. A lot of these units (especially Quinn) are really good with
Mirror Image, so I have been messing around with that and
Howling Peak. I made a version that focused on copying units and also added
Svetya, Orene of Kosul, but I think this version is better. Not surprisingly,
Howling Peak was amazing, so I kept that in this deck. It's unfortunate that it competes with Quinn and Rizahn in the 6 slot, but at least if fits the "Eskimo" flavor.
I like the market the way it is, but
Adjudicator's Gavel and
Urn of Choking Embers are definitely viable options depending on the meta (and when Bore inevitably gets nerfed).
Obliterate can also replace
Vanquish.
The influence requirements are pretty steep, especially since the deck tries to get on the board with early units and it's hard to fit in durdley cards like
Strategize, but it might not be a bad idea. I tried
Barrel Through, but it seemed underwhelming.
There are a lot of options for renown cards and enablers. The ones currently in the deck are the ones I find to be the most consistent.
Highland Sharpshooter and
Warhelm were very powerful and swingy, but too often just didn't seem to fit with this deck's general midrange game plan.
Glacier Shaper was interesting but a little underwhelming most of the time. Big weapons like
Inquisitor's Blade were fun but also too inconsistent. I also tried
Skycrag Scalebreaker, but it is just way too expensive for what it does, even though it is flexible.
The weapons I settled on are ones that can generate card advantage while also being renown enablers. The different modes on the spellcraft weapons and
Display of Honor add a lot of options during games too, which makes this deck fun to play.
I was worried at first about using
Aniyah, Arctic Sheriff without one cost enablers, but most of the time even when I was testing them I found myself just running her out anyway. There is just too much this deck wants to do on turn 6 and power is often depleted. The immediate stun and the fact that so many of the units need to be removed immediately means that she survives more often than you would expect, despite being hit by so many types of removal. Quinn is the all-star in the matchups against removal piles.
There are certainly many viable cards for this deck and any feedback is welcome.
