This deck actually started as Primal mono but switched to Time Primal for access to
Calibrate and
Precision Plunge
It looks like a flier deck but it actually isn't. The fliers and overwhelm are so you can activate
The Throne Room since that is what this deck is actually built around.
The Throne Room and
Guardian of Spring are the key ways to win with this deck. Without getting to those cards you are not likely to win on just fliers alone like in the typical Time Primal fliers aggro so do not play it like that at all. Actively mulligan for a plan to get Throne Room and/or Guardian of Spring.
This is a Primal heavy deck more so than equal Time/Primal. Because getting to 2P is vital to this deck so anything with 2T is going to slow this deck down too much. It is very focused on placing big bodies on turn's 4 and 5. The typical best combo is T4 Guardian of Spring and T5 activate Throne Room to play the 7/7 guy (both have overwhelm). Fliers do initial damage and the big bodies push in for lethal. Calibrate is helpful/needed to fish for The Throne Room.
Ideal combo:
T1: any 1 cost flier
T2:
Yeti Gryffyn Rider
T3:
The Throne Room (attack 2 times thanks to Berserk battle skill)
T4:
Guardian of Spring (attack with a flier, activate The Throne Room, this is why having a flier stay alive is more important than a low hp flier!)
T5: Attack with either Guardian of Spring or Daraka since they can't stun both!
T6: Now that they are forced to spend 2 mana per turn to stun, they are now behind on tempo and mana since they have to pay 2 per turn, you can much more easily run them over and keep your Throne Room(s) triggering, keep drawing and playing cards, win with continued pressure if you do not flat out kill them on T6-T7.
Card explanations:
Sodi's Choice - Aerial superiority. It's very important you can push in and attack, enemy fliers can block you. It's also always nice to have a counter spell in a deck.
Snowstorm Druid - It is so crucial sometimes to get aegis on your face. Some close games you can't proc The Throne Room but being able to play just the Throne Room on turn 3 safely for tempo may be needed. Without aegis you risk The Throne Room being destroyed. Plus late game sometimes you fall behind and are not able to re-proc The Throne Room and you need to get an aegis back up. I often fish just for this card when I draw a flier when it goes late game.
East-Wind Herald - HP is way more important. You need to trigger the Throne Room, don't get greedy with low HP cards. And why not
Illumination Wisp since this is such a straight down grade? Because this deck is primal heavy and better to have a card you can play than the a card resistance to stun.
Majestic Skies - Well, it's like a 2 mana for a card that normally costs 4 mana since all your early game units are fliers. And it can be proc'ed by
Elvish Swindler. It's a good card for this deck, but not a clutch card. Keep that in mind.
Crack the Earth - Very helpful to keep your turn 5 strong. Look to use 1-3 of these. Too many is clunky.
Why are there sub-par fliers in this deck? Because this isn't really a flier deck, or not a typical one. The fliers are meant to stay on the board and push in to trigger The Throne Room. Cards like
Wild Cloudsnake severely underperform since this is not a slow-grow deck. It's meant to end games on Turn 6 from Throne Room and Guardian of Spring. Growing a flier or bufing a flier is a different deck, this deck just abuses fliers so you can easily proc Throne Room.
Why are there 1 and 4 cost cards in the market?? Because
Acquisitive Crow often spawns the market cards from other factions!
