There are two possible win conditions: 1) Overwhelm enemy using usual combrei tempo minions or 2) stick Unraveling fanatic (UF) and protect it. If UF makes it to turn 3 you have a game winning bomb.
Key points for piloting
- You need to adapt your game plan according to the enemy deck. If they are a slower deck, this affords you time to play unraveling fanatic earlier to force them to act.
- If you have an auralian merchant in hand + a dissociate or UF, you have a very strong play which is Auralian Merchant on 3, swap for either UF or dissociate that you are missing. On your next turn, you can ideally go to 5 power and stick UF and have a dissociate in hand to protect it.
- If the enemy is playing an aggro deck, play to win tempo rather than the UF plan.
- If the enemy is likely to have silence or valkyrie enforces, abandon the UF plan. Sanity's anathema while instantly die to silence
- Mulligan aggressively for your two drops, but no need to do the -1 redraw usually.
- If you've hit 5 power, consider saving your additional power cards for any empower effects or trading in with a minion.
Commentary on specific cards
- I think dissociate is easily the best negate card in the game now. The ability to return spells or attachments and add cost to them creates a tempo win for you and also can help buy you a turn to protect your minions.
- Unraveling Fanatic is an inevitable bomb that forces your opponent to act. However, abandon the gameplan if enemy is aggro with a strong board or if they have lots of silence
- Cykalis is amazing and can sometimes save your initial hand with pledge
- Geomar can probably be replaced, I just wanted a strong 3 or 4 drop and currently experimenting with him.
- I experimented a lot with kosul battlemages but I ultimately removed them for now. +1/+1 for each spell casted just isn't strong enough now imo
Further refining the deck
This deck would likely benefit from any refinements that can strengthen the combrei tempo plan. I don't think it will make sense to go into 3 colors because we need to hit our early tempo minions as fast as possible. I can also see UF being removed from the deck if valkyrie enforcers become popular, but perhaps the card would still be relevant from the market.
