[EDIT Realized some people don’t like reading so decided to cut Cylix from main list on here. Original write up is still the same lol]
Been on a kick of budget lists lately as my girlfriend just started the game. Here’s a fun little Praxis list I put together recently. It’s a pretty traditional Fire Aggro deck with a little bit of Time flavor added in (because that budget Rakano deck is everywhere and I’m tired of Rakano and Skycrag budget lists). Really no tips or tricks with this deck, just a standard hand vomit Fire Aggro.
Notable Cards:
Karrina, Hive Guardian - while this is a Rare card, if you find yourself playing Fire Aggro, this is pretty much a staple card and well worth the shiftstone.
Hive Lantern is an okay substitute if you’re not ready to shell out the shiftstone for a full set of Karrina yet
Twilight Lantern - devastating card if left unchecked. Not much else to say here.
Alluring Iguana - not a card in traditional aggro lists, however I included this card as a form of pseudo resource extension and a way to maintain board presence against decks where we need it. Used this card to fill space where traditional lists might use
Karrina, Embercaster,
Old Scratch or really any other Rare or Legendary 4-cost “finisher” or “game winner” card.
Youngblood Tactician - unfortunately from an expansion (The Devouring) but I included this card as I feel The Devouring is well worth acquiring early on as a fair number of cards from the set see play in Throne and Expedition. Youngblood Tactician is certainly a subpar card compared to other options we could be running. But with the constraints of a budget list not allowing us to run cards such as
Ossuar Longbow, or the aforementioned Karrina, Embercaster, I feel the deck sort of falls flat in terms of options for removing bigger units. Tactician is an attempt at resolving this issue without breaking the bank. If you aren’t too keen on acquiring that expansion just yet, Myrmidion Ryder is a decent budget friendly replacement card.
Mantis Claw - Pretty simple card. Being versatile, Claw functions as pseudo removal, or additional reach toward face. Look into upgrading this into
Ossuar Longbow (another staple in Fire which sees play in a variety of aggro and midrange decks).
Praxis Cylix - I know this is a Rare card but I like it as a way of stabilizing the power base. This card is certainly not essential if you’re truly on a budget just cut it for Sigils (one Fire and one Time should do the trick).
Let me know what you think of the deck. I’m far from an expert deck builder (as you can probably tell by my staggeringly large collection of decks on this site). Feel free to offer feedback — good, bad, and anything in between :)
