Information

Ladies, gentlemen and all esteemed others, the Flame of Xulta brought with it not one but two factionless lands, finally enabling us to do what no-one in their right mind would even consider: Building an entirely factionless deck not just in terms of the main body of cards but in the power base too. Here presented for your delight and delectation is one such deck, harnessing the power of market-defying all-star Evenhanded Golem, new legendary hotness Varret, Hero-in-Training, curve-topping versatile polymath Caiphus, Wandering King, ersatz Xenan Obelisk on legs Mask Maker and occasional draft gimmick Momentum Builder.

There are some synergies and antisynergies to keep an eye on with such an eclectic power base. You can use the influence-fixing to fine-tune the card advantage from your set of Veteran Mercenary, but be mindful of when you play Ancient Manual. Also, thanks to Sealed Writ, your golems will stop working when you hit seven power, unless you've drawn them all through your octet of power draw.

Have fun!

Not truly factionless!!!!! This deck is a FRAUD!!! Diplomatic Seal and Ancient Manual will both give influence!!!!!!1

I chose my deck name and claim with care: the cards mentioned give influence, but they don’t have a faction. We’re going to have to wait a while longer for the first influenceless deck, but I’m content that none of these cards can be fetched from a market.

Bro I'm joking about the joke deck. Obviously there's no way to make a truly factionless deck yet.

...yet.

I know, no worries. If it was a legit complaint we could've roped in Common Cause as well. But one day soon, that first deck devoid of influence shall be ours, and we can turn our noses up at the free cards from Veteran Mercenary.

Your list is extremely similar to a list by Kasendrith, posted back in May. If you had any inspiration from that list, you should probably mention that. If not, no worries. Maybe it's just that there is a limited number of options for a factionless deck, but the similarities are striking. tXofALTT1AU

I’m not surprised either by the similarity or that a creative mind attempted something similar back when a truly factionless deck was impossible, but your link to that deck was the first I’ve seen of it. Essentially, the only even-costed factionless cards not used here are Stranger's Mark, Reunite, the ten fixing Strangers, Bannerman, Recon Tower (in a deck without sigils), and the other three Spirit of Resistance. Kasendrith’s deck included 0-cost faction-aligned cards because at the time there weren’t enough relevant and useful options to fill out the deck, so until we get more cards of this ilk, any factionless even deck will look much the same.
