Stonescar Gunslingers is an aggro-midrange deck that relies on the value of its weapons and combos to give the player both board and card advantage.
Though it is called
Gunslingers, this deck does run a few non gunslinger cards:
Oni Quartermaster and
Statuary Maiden. Both of these cards are included to give you card advantage and or deal with troublesome decks (For example, Statuary Maiden hard counters Revenge decks unless dealt with immediately).
In terms of removal options,
Stonescar Gunslingers is full of them: With its recent buff,
Hideout Pistol has become a much better kill spell than a lot of... well, real kill spells. As an example, if your opponent plays a large unit, such as
Sandstorm Titan or
Tavrod, Auric Broker on turns 4 or 5, you can answer them by ambushing in a
Cabal Countess at the end of their turn, and follow it up by placing Hideout Pistol on her to kill them. The deck also runs two
Suffocate to help deal with early game aggression or late game
Valkyrie Enforcer, a few copies of
Annihilate and of course the staple,
Torch.
When it comes to developing a board, you have a few different options. You can obviously play aggressively and win as fast as possible against control decks. Being able to buff your Gunslingers to help bond out
Callous Survivalist early on is a great way to get rid of any answers your opponent may be holding or hasn't gotten the power out for yet. When it comes to playing against other aggressive decks, the units in
Stonescar Gunslingers will provide much more value to you than a typical aggro deck. Yes, you may take a bit of damage to your life total, but if that means waiting a couple of turns to set up a huge draw engine with
Oni Quartermaster (or multiple instances of her) then I'd say it's worth it. With the additional cards you should be able to draw some answers while your opponent starts to rely on topdecks.
Jekk, Hunted Fugitive is a recent addition to this deck. After some testing and looking for another great source of value, Jekk has shown me how powerful he can be when combined with a card like
Oni Quartermaster. Even if you were to attack with only a few units, having Jekk place a weapon on
all of those will help you get a few good Quartermaster triggers off. If left unanswered, Jekk is a card that can also win on its own; He can attack on his own and get blocked until his ability is powerful enough to give your attacking units strong enough buffs to push through without worry.
There are quite a bit of combos in this deck and I welcome everyone to try it out for themselves to see just how good it can be.
