All-in Vara combo feels good wins games looking for feedback to tune and such. I have played 20 games with this in low masters to a record of 13W 7L; its a very small sample and i plan on continuing to test and tweak.
Update: after a weekend of testing tweaking and feedback here's where I am so far. Animist is a better comeback mechanic and easier to set up than the whole big combo sometimes even reanimating him by himself as a panic button. Withering witch works well in the market you can end a vara chain with a merchant to fetch her and leave a black sky in the void to clean up what Animist only stuns.
Card Choices:
Back-Alley Delinquent Sporefolk Nocturnal Observer discard outlets that either churn you deeper or give you a hand check
Vara, Fate-Touched Azindel, Revealed the combo you are most likely trying to set up. Assuming no face aegis Azindel will proc off of BSH as well.
Champion of Cunning gotta win the game somehow right? This will make closing out the game considerably faster.
Some thoughts i have on tuning this is moving WW and BSH into the main while moving ChaCu into the market and maybe try to squeeze a little more interaction in. My fear is diluting the combo to much.
With that said, here’s some thoughts after playing half a dozen matches on Ranked Gold with the first version of this deck:
- Master Cartographer helped me alot in both drawing and discarding cards, and Rindra was also a pretty cheap unit that brought a lot of value both on the board and in the void as a extra target for reanimation, so I’m not sure if cutting those cards is actually good or not.
- My past experiences with Sporefolk can be summed up as hit-or-miss, since it can discard a good combo piece (hit) or mess up the plan by discarding ‘that’ extra power card that you need or a Grasping at Shadows (definitely a miss).
- Winter’s grasp was a dead card on my hand 99% of the time, so good riddance.
- Azindel in the market, maybe a good idea? Also adding Mirror Image to copy Vara or other value units?
- Can’t craft Snowcrush Animist at the time, do you consider it an essential part of the deck?
Looking forward to keep tuning this deck, great job so far!
