Apparently combrei aggro is the only deck I can win with. I've been struggling for 2 weeks with at least 5 other decks, finally I gave up on my other brews and went 6-0 with this to get out of D1.
So curses, curses are everywhere. And most non-curses decks still have plenty of attachments so the
Qirin Ascendants are almost always a 2-for-1. I'd even say it's the main reason to play combrei over other aggro decks (although
Aamri's Choice is a close 2nd)
Card choices
I tried out a bunch of different cards earlier in the month. Originally I was a bit more mastery focused with Varrets, but he's just not great in Combrei . The large majority of your pump effects only give +3, meaning you have to connect twice him to trigger his mastery, which isn't as easy as it sounds.
I also tried
Kira, the Prodigy in the list, but she was pretty much terrible like 90% of the time.
Finally I would also recommend not playing Gnash. I played with him as well, and a difficult to cast vanilla 4/4 is just not good enough.
So as for some of cards we are playing. first of all,
Seasoned Drillmaster is kinda fantastic in this deck. You really want to push damage through with this deck and put the opponent on the back foot so you can just close the door on them asap. This card does just that. Most of the time it's like playing a 3 power
Cykalis, the Burning Sand.
I think the rest of the cards are pretty self explanatory, with maybe the exception of
Ghostblade Outcast. A lot of people don't agree with me on playing this card, but he has over preformed time and time again. I think it's pretty underestimated. I don't know, maybe it's a personal preference kind of thing.
Market
Edict of Grodov and
Edict of Kodosh are both really generically good interactive cards, giving you something to grab for almost any matchup.
Cleansing Rain is mandatory against control decks.
Predator's Instinct is kinda situationally good, but with exalted, overwhelm and even just the merchant ability itself, it has a really high ceiling, winning some games on the spot.
The last spot in the market I left blank. I usually run
Lay Siege, but it's not mandatory.
Elder's Feather is another good option.
Adjudicator's Gavel, etc, you decide (:
And yeah, monk>hojan in this deck
I wasn't running into much 3F near the end and switched from Lookouts to Brushfangs, but I don't know that it made that much of a difference. I'd say it's a tossup between Lay Siege and Feather in the market depending on what you're running into.
