Hello there,
Somehow, I had a sudden urge to use
Maul which resembles a new card
Clash of Wills but focuses more on damage. Well, however, I didn't end up using neither of them. Instead, I created this midrange combo deck which focuses on turning disadvantage of cards such as
Lured Away and 1st effect of
Wrath of Caiphus into advantage.
Aside from the background, this deck focuses on
making the opponent draw cards as much as possible to let you win.
Rule of Thumb:
1. Play
Dichro's Ruin as soon as possible.
This card is the main means to deal damage to the opponent. Other cards are basically supporters for its effect.
2.
Disciplinary Studies is just to hinder the opponent from using cards. But don't overestimate its power.
3.
Display of Knowledge is to search
Dichro's Ruin, but you can use its 1st ability only if necessary. If you have more than 5 power, use it on your turn and play
Dichro's Ruin at the same turn. If you only have 3 power, use it at the end of the opponent's turn, which allows you to use
Dichro's Ruin and any cost-2 card such as
Read the Stars or
Lured Away if you have 4 power on the next turn.
4. Using
Lys, Champion of Linrei or
Wrath of Caiphus while the opponent is cursed with
Dichro's Ruin is the main combo of this deck to deal enormous damage to the opponent. Ideally, use
Lys, Champion of Linrei on the 6th turn and
Wrath of Caiphus on the 7th turn.
5.
Lys, Champion of Linrei's target is always the opponent unless your hand is overflowing with power cards and the opponent isn't cursed with
Dichro's Ruin.
6. Don't use
Reflection or
Lured Away recklessly on the 1st or 2nd turn. Use them when the opponent is cursed with
Dichro's Ruin or
Disciplinary Studies.
7. Use
Disciplinary Studies's
Contract ability only when you know you're safe to use on the same turn and the next turn if it'll give you
debt.
8. You can summon
Gatecrash Trooper as a shield against the opponent's relic weapon if you don't have any other method. If you can break their relic weapon by a combo of
Dichro's Ruin which makes the opponent draw cards to deal damage, sometimes that may be a better idea.
9. Take face damage unless you'll be defeated by it. No worries, you can gain
Health by
Dichro's Ruin's effect.
10. You don't always need to take damage from
Xultan Conclave's effect. You only need 3 Primal, 2 Time, and 2 Shadow influences.
11. Ideally, use
Transpose to exchange
Gatecrash Trooper with
Arcane Restraint if you have time to do so.
Transpose can also be used to break
Aegis before cursing the opponent with
Dichro's Ruin.
That's it from me! I won 5 times in a row with this deck and have never seen any deck like this in Ranked Throne. I made this deck cheapest as possible, so if you have extra Shiftstones modify it as you want:) Consider this deck as a basis for new possibilities.
Please feel free to leave a comment, question, and/or suggestion below.
May the force be with you.
- wasteland broker in a transpose market can be sneaky useful in games that run longer
- the 4 cost mask of torment that gives +max power on lifegame is a decent market option here
- for me, lumen reclaimer is a must in this style deck. either for pinging off aegis, shtting down mill and reanim, or recycling your killed relics its too good
- from below also works somewhat well in these depending on how you bulid
anyways great deck figured id give you some other ideas in case it interests you.
What to add at market? Some thoughts:
1) Diamond of the Valley for more draws
2) Lumen defender to counter mill strategies and to soft-counter mass relic hate.
3) Some clearing vs aggro (malediction?)
4) Eavesdrop to bother voidplay strategies
5) Mindbreaker's Staff for fun xD
6) Turn To Seed for big or dangerous creatures
7) Rejection for dangerous spells.
Some nice interaction: we can switch our card with Trooper and then take him again, drawing once more. This trick saves me one game, I've found answer on topdeck.
