I've always loved the idea of a skycrag deck that spammed spells endlessly, but I'm not sure we have the cards yet to make a deck that can beat other players, so I decided to make this deck for gauntlet grinding. So far the deck does well against most of the computer's decks, but sadly certain cards can shut it down completely (
Black Iron Manacles for example). With this in mind, I'm still looking for ways to improve the deck and would love any feedback.
Card Choices
Trailblaze - This isn't a card I see used anywhere, so I figured I ought to explain why I put it in the deck. You cannot afford to run out of cards early on in this deck, or get power screwed, and Trailblaze helps us just as much as
Strategize in that regard.
Rusty Grenamotive - The extra power from attacks is great for helping this deck get units out and setup. I originally had
Ice Sprite in this spot but it was removed to easily to be helpful, instead the Grenamotive helps our deck get going faster so bigger targets are easier to kill.
Skycrag Scalebreaker - This card is taking the spot of
Boltcrafter Shaman because the Shaman was just too slow. His extra spell damage was useful but by the time we get to play him if we don't have control of the board he just isn't enough to help us. Scalebreaker is a solid early unit. and her Skycrag Goad turns her into a storng 5/5 flying unit, or can give Feast-Caller flying for easy attacks.
The Market - Bore is our only way of removing weapons and relics, and those are arguably the biggest threat to this deck as legendary weapons like
Rolant's Fist can create impossible to kill enemies. Hailstorm is an emergency board clear and Polymorph is to get rid of massive units, especially ones with endurance. Feast Caller is a strong threat that again helps us draw spells, and Sudden Schism is always useful.
At this point the deck is fairly consistent and does well in the gauntlet. Games typically take about 10 turns if we win, however if it gets close the matches can be longer. The deck is still far from perfect and struggles against Caiphus and a few other bosses, but I'm not sure how to deal with that for the time being.
