This is a quick list that I've been tinkering with. I feel like blue armory might have a place in the meta.
Strategize is a decent replacement for
Quarry. We do lose cards like
Slay,
Smuggler's Stash and
Tavrod, Auric Broker. Which are all REALLY good cards. We gain tools like
Kothon, the Far-Watcher,
Permafrost,
Eilyn's Choice and
Wisdom of the Elders.
Currently, I don't think
Kothon, the Far-Watcher is better than
Rakano Artisan but I'm going to continue to test this out. So far I have had very few times where the Kothan trigger made a difference since I usually end up casting
Harsh Rule anyway. However a toughness of 3 does help against aggro decks that might now have the removal for it.
Eilyn's Choice has proven to be OK. I'm not sure about this slot. Sometimes I feel like i don't need them and others I feel like I could use more. It's obviously very good in the Sentinel match-up since they tend to rush out fatties, so having some extra removal is very good. It also does a good job of stopping
Harsh Rule.
Valkyrie Enforcer is a card I really like. I would like to add 2 more, possibly replacing the two other
Eilyn's Choice but this will be a meta call.
Switching out the Banner sigils for the new Scout sigils is what I'm currently leaning towards and will probably do so on the next revision of the deck. The power base can use some love. The hands can often be clunky without the correct fixing and the scout sigils can help with that. That being said, the deck can struggle early game since playing depleted lands can really set you back. Hopefully the
Torch's and
Sword of Icaria's can help fend off early game threats until you can stabilize.
Another card that I'm not entirely sold on is
Eilyn's Favor. Yes it does thin out the deck and it does give aegis which is nice. I feel like this spot could be better utilized as a flex spot potentially. My thought would be remove these two +1
Sword of Icaria and + 1
Valkyrie Enforcer. If I need the aegis I'll think about adding
Cobalt Waystone and adjusting the power base a bit more.
Some other cards I've thought about adding have been:
Jotun Feast-Caller,
Eilyn, Clan Mother and
Amilli, Cloudmarshal. However if adding these cards we start to move away from an
Icaria, the Liberator based deck and more into a traditional control deck. Which is fine but what gets cut? Is
Jotun Feast-Caller a big enough threat that it's worth replacing
Eilyn's Favor for? Like I said above, the power base feels very clunky so have triple Primal can be hard sometimes.
