Remember the Xenan Cleaver deck? Remember how I wrote about having busted Justice rares waiting for their chance?
Their time has finally come.
My week 3 packs added virtually nothing in the Time department, while Shadow picked up
Minotaur Lighthoof and
Desperado, making the colour better overall, but also more aggressively-inclined (together with some cards I ran week 1, but cut from the Xenan deck afterward, such as
Territorial Elf and
Beastcaller's Amulet). After I lost my first game of the week with Xenan Cleaver, I decided to look at Justice again. Justice didn't pick up much in week 3, but a
Brightmace Paladin as well as a second copy of
Hooru Fledgling added the last playables needed for a nice-looking aggressive Argenport deck.
I decided against playing
Valkyrie Linebreaker and
Ironfist Archon as they would only up the curve unnecessarily and don't fit the deck's gameplan too well.
The deck got a lot more demanding regarding influence (ideally we need JJ and SS by turn 3), but
Argenport Banner as well as
Stonescar Stranger (yes, week 3 provided me with my first and last Stranger) help with that. 14 Sigils, 1 Banner, 1
Crownwatch Standard and 2
Lingering Influence make for a solid powerbase (17.5 power sources is pretty much exactly where this deck wants to be).
This deck has gone 9-0, which, together with my one Xenan loss this week, took me from 14-6 to 23-7.
Tiebreakers for the week went 16-4, putting tiebreakers at 46-14
Week 4 Edit: Despite opening some decent Time for week 4 (Insatiable Serasaur, Pensive Lumen) and not opening much for Shadow (third copy of Cut Ties which I decided not to run) I decided to stay on track with the nice and aggressive Argenport deck for the final week, only doing minor changes (cutting Lingering Influence, adding in the Ironfist Archon I wasn't sure about in week 3 along with a decent 4-drop I opened this week).
The deck pulled off a 10-0 this week putting my overall record at 33-7. I'm hoping the record is good for top 50 and I'd be amazed if it was good for top 10 (I doubt it though). Will definitely be playing tiebreakers to make sure it's good for top 50.
