I've seen a few people on ladder toying with a red blue dragon deck and I gave a shot at making one myself. So far it's been very successful on ladder. I rose from low gold to diamond very quickly playing this list. I am a newer player and may not have the best collection so it is possible to make this list better with some of the other legendary dragons, such as more XO, but this list works well nonetheless.
HOW TO PLAY.
UNITS: The goal of this deck is to provide constant pressure. Starting with
Oni Dragonsmith to get turn 3 drops of ]Crimson Firemaw or
Poaching Drake. A one cost 3/2 with quick draw isn't bad either, even in the late game.
Dusk Raider benefits many of our units. Early 4 attack flying cards with berserk can quickly snowball out of control if the opponent cannot respond. Having lots of flying units also avoids
Avigraft, which can help the early game against some decks.
Jotun Feast-Caller is nice for midgame draw, especially when paired with berserk.
Thunderstrike Dragon and
Xo of the Endless Hoard provide big late game units with flying and extra card draw.
Sky Terror may seem like an odd inclusion, but it has actually worked well in certain situations, it allows all of the smaller units on the board to help push damage without being easily blocked by bigger late game enemies.
Champion of Fury is also included to further this decks objective, constant chunks of damage each turn. It's a good turn two drop that can push early damage and block later. In my games so far the unit package has been effective, allowing big chunks of early damage, a turn 3 5/4 with berserk can lead to a quick win! There is also plenty of draw here, which really allows the deck to spam midrange units even until late in the game.
SPELLS AND ATTATCHMENTS:
Seek Power of course for helping ensure a good mana supply.
Strategize and
Wisdom of the Elders to keep up draw.
Mirror Image lets you clone some of your best units. Berserk Dragons with no answer or feast caller for double draw are great choices. Double Xo? Yes please.
Torch and
Permafrost help you deal with pesky enemies especially early while you are most vulnerable. Later in the game I often had more than enough units on the board to block effectively.
Howling Peak is good for bigger unit removal and of course coping dragons.
MARKET:
Howling Peak Smuggler is great with some of the early removal spells and of course howling peak itself. Two extra
Ixtun Merchant for extra market opportunities and because all of our market cards have fire influence. The cards in the market are
Skycrag Banner to help with early power fixing.
Longbarrel is a nice weapon to pull later in the game to push for extra damage, or early on an
Oni Dragonsmith.
Bore of course for relic removal. Against relic heavy decks I have found it effective to pull it early so you can play it and then trade it back to the market for repeated uses.
Hunter's Harpoon while an odd inclusion, has helped fix the draw in tough spots. This deck has lots of flying, and berserk units, making it easy to get the required face damage, giving our unit quickdraw doesn't hurt either and prevents our dragons from dying to opponent howling peaks.
Soulfire Drake is a fun inclusion. His effect is bonkers in this deck even if he dies immediately. The card draw will ensure you get to take advantage of the your other units getting charge, several of which are extremely powerful when combined with it. Guaranteed payoffs from jotun feast caller, xo, and crimson firemaw! If you have a
Dusk Raider in play when you pull it, and the opponent doesn't have flying units to block or mana for immediate removal, you're guaranteed 10 damage. This card has won a lot of games for me especially against aggro decks, which this deck builds fast enough to block and then flies right over them! Also note that
Granite Waystone is included so you can trade the grenadin into the market, allowing you to be greedy with your more valuable cards.
Give this list a try, tell me what you think and how it can be made better! This is my first ever deck write up so I would love feedback and to see what other people would do with my list!
