Did you run this in this weekend's Expedition qualifier event? Because I faced a deck very much like this in that event. It felt like every card (or many of them) was foil. It was a control deck and it came back to beat me. They used Wasteland Broker to put Savage Incursion in the deck. Then they combo'd out with that and Helio, the Skywinder at the end. I was using Rakano surge.

Was that you?

It was a really awesome deck and I want to build it. I'm new to the game and didn't realize a control deck like this could be built. I didn't notice the card Shen-Ra Speaks existed...Amazing card.

I haven't looked at this list in a month, so it probably wasn't me, but I'm flattered that you thought of me! Shen-Ra Speaks is really good in expedition right now.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, the deck was extremely similar to this. And it seemed to employ some of the tweaks mentioned in the commenrs here. It seemed to be tweaked to perfection.

Other changes I noticed were: no Pillar of Progress or Ancestral Oasis that I could tell.

There seemed to be added Ice Bolt, Grodov's Burden, and Arcane Restraint. Though I'm not sure if the latter 2 were from the Market or not? Added Eilyn's Choice. All adds and removes I like.

I thought I saw Siphoner Paladin and Jarrall Iceheart but these must have been grabs from Tradition Chant.

I'm definitely goint to make this my new Expedition project. Thanks again for the deck!

My only contemplation is the market access. Do I want to Transpose for Wasteland Broker, then Broker the others? Or do I want to mainboard a combo of or go all in on Transpose or Broker in main deck. I sort of liked the idea of Savage Incursion getting brokered into the deck. Tough call, hmm.

I cut Ancestral Oasis and one Ancient Serpent for 2x Greatswords and a few other things. It feels weird running Pillar of Progress without any weapons, and not needing double Time influence on turn 4 feels more relaxed. There is zero reason to ramp this deck that fast outside of Combrei running Pit of Lenekta or something. A couple Beseech the Thrones are also essential especially to hit smooth power with Plunder. I also like the double wincon a potential 11 attack Greatsword gives you in addition to Channel. Arcane Restraint is an underrated must in the market (ditch Broker) as there are a lot of control mirrors and you win the game if it sticks. This list seems more complete than the Elysian version, Solar Blast alone is just terrible as your only mass clear. Defiance and Shen-Ra make all the difference. List is performing very well I just hit Diamond II and am on a current 10-0 streak, most insane market in Expedition. Some games feel like you lose off one missplay or wiffed draw, but overall super strong build and takes high skillcap and turn management.

Deck works kinda alright, there are games that you lose just because TJP only has reactive removal. Power base is weird sometimes its great but sometimes it does not work at all. Just for all those who complain about mono shadow, I just say it like that if you play for Shen ra clear you are not playing control. Use your Defiance, Lighning bolts and such, to clear early units, don´t let them flood the board just so Shen ra can save your butt. Control means controlling the game in any phase, not just in turn 5 with Shen ra speaks. If you play this Deck like a hard control mostly reactive you have time to get your power base up. IMO the ppl that commented play too proactive. If you want to play proactive play Midrange. Also I would cater market more against Aggro, maybe Ice bolt to grab with Broker, also the deck needs more removal, I don´t know why pillars of Progress is in the deck. It feels like the ramp is pretty much not good enough. I would put in more removal, because you basically don´t do anything else in TJP, just remove stall and survive until you can channel face, maybe add Master Sword as a means to end games as well.

10 games with this list. 10 games I was power / influence screweed.

Have since played 5 more games and 3 more power screws and then 2 games where since the deck did nothing and does not run enough removal it simply just got run over by 2 Mono shadow lists.

Honestly, terrible list sorry to say man but this list does nothing and has a ton of issues. Try working on it a bit more, if I decide to give it a shot to fix Ill let you know what happens but as of now this list does nothing.

Sorry to hear that you experienced a rough set of games. It's helpful to consider the impact sample size has on your perception of results, and if you have any constructive criticism I'd be more than happy to hear it!
