I've been working on a similar deck - I've gotten to a pretty tuned version (I was just on a 6 win streak before calling quits for the night) but I'm only gold 2 right now, so not ready to post. I would recommend cutting the Permafrosts. They are horrible with Vara because it makes the opponent have an easy choice to sac. I do keep one in the market for Jennev Merchant as a backup removal source, but that would involve lots of change here. Personally I prefer Jennev over Kerendon merchant since I think primal has better market options, in particular, Unseal, Rain of Frogs, and Visions of Austerity. I agree that this Vara midrange/control hybrid has a lot of potential though.

I agree with switching over to Jennev. I made the switch recently. You're right about the permafrosts. I'm going to try it without them.
