Threw this together today and I've been having some fun with it, so thought I would share. Please be aware that this list is EXTREMELY rough. I just guessed at the powerbase while building and will be altering it to make things smoother. I don't know that this deck could ever be Tier 1, because if your opponent knows what you are up to your chances of winning take a nose dive, but honestly that's probably for the best.
If you haven't seen this combo before,
Katra, the Devoted +
Razorquill +
Stained Honor lets you activate
Razorquill as many times as you like, killing your opponent on the spot.
Here's some thoughts on individual cards:
Evenhanded Golem: The reason I built the deck in the first place, as I've been having a ton of fun with it since release. I tried a "normal" version of this deck and just wasn't feeling it, and have liked this build much better. The ability to
Reweave any of your two drops into two fresh cards is great.
Ephemeral Wisp: The wisp is here because it synergizes very well with
Reweave and protects your life total while you get the combo set up. It also acts a recurring threat should you only be able to get
Katra, the Devoted and
Razorquill online for a turn or two (though I don't think you are going to be winning many games that way).
Devotee of the Sands: Lets you jump from 2 to 4, which is pretty nice in a deck that has no 3 cost cards. Could be
Power Stone instead, though I've liked the flexibility of choosing between having a virtual
Power Stone by shifting or a blocker/torch absorber by not shifting.
Talir's Favored: I'm not sure if these are needed or not (like I said, very rough build). You can
Reweave into them to help hit your power drops which is nice, or
Reweave them after playing into an
Evenhanded Golem or utility creature.
Imperial Loyalist: This is probably too cute, but if you
Reweave this card you can get a 2 drop plus a 4 or less drop, letting you get two combo pieces from one
Reweave. Note that if you get
Razorquill, you won't be able to combo off that turn, as you cannot activate twist while
Razorquill is shifted, so you usually want to have a
Razorquill in hand and then get a
Katra, the Devoted and a
Stained Honor. If you really need this to happen, hold Loyalist until 6 power so that you can play it and
Reweave in the same turn without interaction, as people will snap kill it. If you have the combo in hand already, you can play it to help eat up your opponent's removal. Loyalist is also why the one of
Sheriff Marley is here, since you can
Reweave for it and trigger Tribute, though I don't really think that it is necessary.
Last Chance: I wanted a
Dark Return effect since your combo cards will likely die, and it is perfect for the job as it saves on power and doesn't break
Evenhanded Golem. Speaking of
Evenhanded Golem, being able to turn excess
Last Chances into extra cards if you have a Golem in your void is great.
Reweave: Card kinda does it all. Lets you turn
Ephemeral Wisp (or any other two drop) into more power (
Devotee of the Sands,
Talir's Favored), cards (
Evenhanded Golem), or a silence effect (
Desert Marshal). Also lets you get two combo pieces off
Imperial Loyalist (see above).
Anyway I hope someone else enjoys this deck as much as I have been. If you do end up crafting it, let me know how it goes for you and any changes you make.
