This is an attempt to get more value out of Stonescar Midrange while being aggressive as it is near impossible to be on the control plan if Fire is one of your factions.
Crimson Firemaw or
Quarry or
Miner's Musket onto a
Worldpyre Phoenix was the original combo that made me interested in building this. The cost reduction carries over for the Phoenix coming back, so it does an OK impression of a
Thunderstrike Dragon. Stonescar Midrange decks always have a problem of not having access to card draw, so the idea was to make the Phoenix's recasts more accessible in order to be able to replay it sooner because lets be honest, even the first recast without cost reduction is pretty hard to get to within a game.
We are also rocking a fair bit of lifegain as a sub-theme.
Infernal Tyrant is a sweet one and
Umbren Reaper can finish the game defend the skies (or whynot both). It is also intentional that Reaper can be hit by both Tyrant and
Devastating Setback in order the ability to make him die on our terms. Because of this I think that swapping
Ripknife Assassin back to
Argenport Instigator so that the Reaper is the only unit of our own to be killed by these abilities is probably correct, but if I'm honest I dusted mine when they offered the refunds on Instigator due to the influence nerf and have not yet rebought them. But as it is I'm ok with having one 'nonbo' in the deck due to the Assassin being able to warcry up our
Auric Interrogator and also being generally a good card. Interrogator himself I'd prefer to have as a different card as without weapons or
Dark Return in the deck he doesn't draw many cards, but I felt for curve purposes I needed more 3's. It could be that
Xenan Cultist might be a better fit (it at least combos with Phoenix) so I'll have to try that out.
