Information

So, a fairly straightforward Auralian pledge deck. Why? Because equivocate, bear guard bayonet, and glasshopper are nucking futs, Severin is the best of the 4XYZ pledge cycle, and then you get Vara + desecrate. Only thing I'm absolutely unsure about is the market. Everything else is just "well, gotta play these pledge cards so I can get pledge payoff."

Standard 8 merchant + feed them with hurler package.

WTB "Gain XY, depleted unless you pledged this game" duals. And also waiting to buy elves on the level of Vara so I can actually run Zende in this 3F and not look like an idiot.

Ahhh im nostalgic for these pledge decks. Shame about MoonstoneVanguard. It needed a nerf but i though 4/5 or 5/4 would be better than the current 4/4 which nobody plays
Artcoversme Eternal Version: 1.45.6
do you have some replacements for the 3x Eilyin? :S
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.45.6
You can use the apex predator from the campaign.
Artcoversme Eternal Version: 1.45.6
thank you very Much Ilyak! :D

I am currently fighting in Gold with this deck. I always love the Roaches and this new addition is fun.
I have currentyl two versions. One is like your list, but replace the Jotun Hurler and Suffocate with the 4 Clockroaches. I think they have some synergy with the glasshopper and also are good to exchange with the market. Have also replaced 3 cargos with Dark return. Never face any power problems
Second version it has one Display of Knowledge, that is as good removal as Equivocate and a single Crown of Possibilities. For that version a remove the last cargo and one of the Auralian Merchant

For the market I have Vara's Choice, Hailstorm ( great for agrro), Passage, Excavate ( second Passage or Dark Retrun) and Xenan initiation ( good removal)
Ninjacan Eternal Version: 1.45.1
wouldn't it be great if Display of Knowledge had pledge?
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.45.2
Sure would :D
djwarpt Eternal Version: 1.45.1
Wow, ok, so you're better at this than me. Glad to see this getting more love. Have to try your version.
Hammerhead Edited Eternal Version: 1.45
First off, thanks for sharing your deck and congratulations on masters! Secondly, I was curious about the inclusion of the singleton Suffocate. I was wondering if it would be a bad idea to swap it for Cykalis, the Burning Sand for the Pledge and potential burst?
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.45
Wanted to have a bit more early interaction, but you're welcome to try.
Hammerhead Eternal Version: 1.45
Sweet dude, I will test it out and let you know if I'm onto something good. Thanks.
Chimpien Edited Eternal Version: 1.45
Why borderscout over Cykalis? I've been messing with Glasshopper decks myself and he's always an auto-include for me. Have to agree that Dread sucks.
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.45
That's a good question. I recommend you try him out. But my logic was that this isn't exactly an aggro deck, so Cykalis wouldn't be at his best here. That said, I imagine if you start spamming him with glasshopper, that can be a plan all on its own O_o.
Chimpien Edited Eternal Version: 1.45.1
Have been liking Cykalis and Apex Predator over Borderscout and Eilyn as it makes the powerbase more consistent. Have made a few other changes to be more aggressive leaning than your version (8 merchants wasn't great in my more aggro set up, which also meant I cut the hurlers). Aurelian glasshopper
Thanks for the inspiration though, Severin is definitely stronger than I initially thought even without other relic synergies (he's great in a Rats Nest deck).
IlyaK1986 Eternal Version: 1.45.1
Ooh, that's definitely a neat take. Yeah, after playing the deck some more, it's decent, but the issue with it is that it doesn't have enough of a bullshit factor going for it. I also recommend sandstorm scarf in the market with all the hooru running around.
GGCrono Edited Eternal Version: 1.45.6
Borderscout is amazing *if* you're playing a deck that can reliably buff it. It's a powerhouse in Hooru. I'm not sure a deck with Bayonet as its only buff is the right place for it. Star-Reader's Blade would be amazing with it, so that might be worth testing.

In any case, though, this looks like a really solid build at its core and I look forward to playing with it. :)

lmao put scare on borderscout and just went ham
rapicho Eternal Version: 1.45
I always have a hard time playing cards like Shadowlands Borderscout, because of its easy torchability, so I've gotta ask how does it perform? I know pledge is important here, but a 1/2 for 4 or even 3 seems like a struggle of a card.
IlyaK1986 Edited Eternal Version: 1.45
About as awfully as you might expect if you cast it without glasshopper. It's really a card you don't want to see, but it's better than dread and the dumb elysian dino because of upside, and Zende just doesn't have enough support in the deck to be worth running. It's basically there as an additional pledge card and then *maybe* to drop after an opponent exhausted all their resources.
rapicho Eternal Version: 1.45
Yeah I tried playing the list and on the rare occasion they don't handle borderscout it's great, but on that rare occasion I tend to already be winning. The other thing I've noticed is the list doesn't seem great with all the Harsh Rule/Vargo Redclaw decks, so I'm not calling you a liar, heck I'm probably playing the deck wrong, but I really don't see how this list made it to masters?
IlyaK1986 Edited Eternal Version: 1.45
Basically, the way you beat harsh rule is that you need to get some hits in with the vanguards, and also to get your obelisk to buff up your little glasshoppers and merchants since you get to 8 power somewhat consistently, and great valley smugglers buffed by obelisk 8 become 6/6s on their own. Yeah, odds are, it's probably better to go with Cykalis than borderscout. Xenan Temple can help by getting at least a 2 for 1 depending on how you view scare and initiation. Amber rings with obelisk make non-negligible dorks as well. And odds are, Cykalis is most likely a lot better than borderscout vs. harsh rule decks.

But harsh rule + vargo is indeed obnoxious.

As for how it made it to masters: good interaction + good units. Pledging Severin + glasshopper gets silly in a hurry when you activate 3 rings a turn. Vara's just plain good, and you can get to Eilyn somewhat readily. It's a midrange deck that can grind pretty well.
