So, a fairly straightforward Auralian pledge deck. Why? Because equivocate, bear guard bayonet, and glasshopper are nucking futs, Severin is the best of the 4XYZ pledge cycle, and then you get Vara + desecrate. Only thing I'm absolutely unsure about is the market. Everything else is just "well, gotta play these pledge cards so I can get pledge payoff."
Standard 8 merchant + feed them with hurler package.
WTB "Gain XY, depleted unless you pledged this game" duals. And also waiting to buy elves on the level of Vara so I can actually run Zende in this 3F and not look like an idiot.
I have currentyl two versions. One is like your list, but replace the Jotun Hurler and Suffocate with the 4 Clockroaches. I think they have some synergy with the glasshopper and also are good to exchange with the market. Have also replaced 3 cargos with Dark return. Never face any power problems
Second version it has one Display of Knowledge, that is as good removal as Equivocate and a single Crown of Possibilities. For that version a remove the last cargo and one of the Auralian Merchant
For the market I have Vara's Choice, Hailstorm ( great for agrro), Passage, Excavate ( second Passage or Dark Retrun) and Xenan initiation ( good removal)
Thanks for the inspiration though, Severin is definitely stronger than I initially thought even without other relic synergies (he's great in a Rats Nest deck).
In any case, though, this looks like a really solid build at its core and I look forward to playing with it. :)
But harsh rule + vargo is indeed obnoxious.
As for how it made it to masters: good interaction + good units. Pledging Severin + glasshopper gets silly in a hurry when you activate 3 rings a turn. Vara's just plain good, and you can get to Eilyn somewhat readily. It's a midrange deck that can grind pretty well.
