The ShiftstonedEternal Power Calculator is a deck-building tool that visualizes your odds of drawing enough Influence and Power based specifically on the cards found in your deck.
I love playing this deck - made it to masters both May and June with this decklist. And I have to say, I was pretty tilted on your behalf when you got matched so early against the only two decks that had much chance of beating you.
Thank you sto650! They should credit you with the deck because it's the exact same 80 you play! I gave you credit in camat0s interview playlist
The deck is great and was extremely well positioned against the Valks meta, sucks that I had an unfortunate matchup early. The Stonescar match was close, he topdecked twice in the last game. I feel like this deck might have won the tournament if I won that match.
But anyhow, super fun deck and many thanks for you making it and it's guide!
Is it really that fun? I've been curious about the deck overall, I've faced it a handful of times and beat it about twice out of about 5 times playing against it. I made it to Masters both June and July with my Hooru Fliers brew. One or two applications of lifesteal through something like Unseen Commando or applying Aegis to yourself with Rime Conclave Smuggler seem to counter it pretty well. It does seem a bit dull, since every game is played just trying to merchant for Diogo and Waystone your way through the deck to one shot the opponent, I can't imagine it offers a lot of entertainment compared to other decks with variation. But I have yet to try it out myself.
Yes, it is fun and engaging both. Most decks look easy to play when you are sitting across the table from them. This one especially looks super easy and brainless to play. However, it is extremely touchy to the tiniest mistake in order of operations, playing the wrong power card, getting the wrong card out of the market first, deciding when to block or not, how much damage you can afford to eat, etc. It looks very simple. It is not nearly as simple as it looks. In answer to the lifesteal and aegis, that's what the Messenger Hawk solves, by shuffling extra Excavators after the combo goes off. Possibly you've faced off against versions without the Hawk. (The variation in gameplay happens when you have to problem-solve the interactions that the opponent throws at you; deal with the OTK not functioning correctly; guess if they might have a Royal Decree and plan your market trips accordingly, and other things of that nature. It's immensely satisfying to still win a game, even when opponent has face aegis or heals up a lot or counterspells me once or whatever.)
It kinda says already in my comment above, but I'll be more detailed. When you finish "going off" with Invoke the Waystones, you need to either have 10 power and a red merchant in hand, OR you need to have played a red merchant while going off to get out a Stonescar Excavator and have 7 power available (Excavator costs 3 to play, 4 to activate). Most of the time, your deck will be empty after you finish going off. So, if you do not reach these power benchmarks, you will not be able to play and activate the Excavator. SO, you need to put something into your empty deck. This is what Messenger Hawk does; he shuffles 4 copies of Stonescar Excavator into the empty deck. This is also why he solves the problems of face aegis and healing - if the first copy doesn't kill the opponent, there are 4 more copies coming shortly, and plenty of power to use them.
