A midrange deck that I took to Masters this month. I couldn't seem to find a Big midrange deck in these colors so I made this.
Lost scroll on 2 is optimal, but any hand with your influence and some early interaction is fine. Remember kids: If your hand doesn't beat aggro; It usually isn't worth keeping. Slower decks will give you time to draw things; Aggro won't.
Card Choices:
Removal: Defiance/suffocate split to deal with early aggro but also hit those pesky units that don't attack like Kindle Karver.
Slay/Feeding time split to answer the larger threats. Feeding time has been great for me with all the revenge/entomb/reanimation threats.
Know Thy Enemy: Helps against the swarm decks while also being a strong threat card in long matchups given our unit base.
Unit threats: Units start at 4 power besides merchants. The deck is looking to ramp out a 4 cost unit on turn 3 through lost scroll.
Rindra- A big pet favorite of mine. Almost always guaranteed value in grindy matchups and can plug aggro holes.
Vara- Helps a lot against the aegis aggro decks, yetis, and burn. Stripping face aegis from control opponents for our 5 cost units is important as well.
Black Book- Just a Boss.... of a card. Almost always good. Helps our whittle away at their hand plan and warcry always hits a good target.
Evolving Olzial- The weirdest choice maybe in the whole deck; It has been an absolute allstar for me and a corner stone of the deck. It is the only way we have to remove relics once played/regen flying blocker does wonders/ and the filtering is great it can hit. Don't forget you can turn your own relics and sites into a 4/1 for extra attacking power!! People forget about this and it can steal games.
Non-Unit Threats: Night Dojo- I've been looking for a home for this card besides Primal/Shadow control. In this deck it offers Rindra 5-8 while also punishing removal decks that have to deal with our already value generating threats. You can also often slam this on 3 or 4 against aggro for abduct or power 4. If they attack it you get a turn not getting hit in the face; If they don't Rinda can end the game.
Gift of Kosul: Another all star that I feel is underplayed across all of Eternal atm. The versatility of it shouldn't be understated. Aegis threat, card draw, or one more removal spell are three very different options to get from one card. The Passive effect is also very strong in this deck, similar to warcry from black book.
Market: Smuggler Market because I found that being able to fetch our silver bullet cards on demand outweighed the long term value of Factionless merchant.
Gavel- Reanimator is everywhere, AAC is many places, and lots of fringe decks these days use the Void. If you don't see much rean though I could see cutting it.
Burglarize- A lot of relics going around that taking is a blow out. You could run Vision of Austerity instead here, I prefer to take my opponents relics. Users choice.
Nothing Remains- Fetchable board sweep on 4 is Clutch many games. Double green is harder to get than black so the influnce requirements don't change much between this and Harsh Rule. The 1 lower power and Void bound is worth it to me. I wouldn't swap this for anything I can think of.
Poacher's- This is my 4 drop threat of choice. You can run any 4 drop threat in this slot. I chose Poachers because some decks can't handle relics easily and the value of it coming down on 4 is crushing. You could easily run Regent's tomb here or any other 4 drop threat. I'd advise against a unit threat though because that's what all our main threats are already.
Dizo's- Late game card of choice for me. It's versatile and strong in most matchups. You can run any late game threat here; but once again i'd be cautious of running a unit.
I have had a ton of fun playing this deck to masters this month and I'm glad to share it. Please as always feel free to ask questions or leave suggestions!
