This is my 21-4 Even FJS list, inspired by Kasendrith's 21-1 deck https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/4AoJg7mTFSM/21-1-fjs-smuggolem
I decided to play this list in the event because 2-cost smugglers are the best thing you can be doing in this event by far, and as much as I hate the card there really is no excuse to not be playing
Evenhanded Golem while you're at it. 2-cost display of ambition, 4-cost makto, and 6-cost icaria are similarly broken, although it's worth noting that the influence on icaria can be tricky at times. This list is playing 11 smugglers because T2 smuggler into T3 tomb is just insane, and you can always market away unnecessary smugglers if you have too many of them. There are a few key differences between my list and Kasendrith's, which I'll explain below.
Extra Power:
My list is playing 2 more power than Kasendrith's list. I think this deck is so powerful that we want to guarantee hitting our power drops for a consistent T6 icaria. We can also put extra power into our market with all of our smugglers, and once this deck gets going it can usually use any surplus power for xo troves and the like.
Xo of the Endless Hoard:
Basically copies 5-8 of evenhanded golem, with 11 merchants xo is an insta-include. Also helps give us something to do with our merchants once we've used up all our market cards.
Reweave:
Although reweaving smugglers into golems and golems into smugglers is cute, at the end of the day you're really just building your own devour. I don't think devour is a card this deck wants to be running - if you want something to sac your merchants and golems to you have combust. Another important point is that since most everyone is playing smugglers and golems, you really need the bodies to stick around and trade off. If you're constantly saccing your golems and smugglers you won't have anything to block the opponent's golems and smugglers.
Cen Wastes Smuggler:
Although it sucks that this smuggler can only access 3 of the 5 cards in our market, a 3/2 smuggler for 2 is just too broken to not play. I want to guarantee playing a T3 regent's tomb, and you can always shuffle xos with surplus merchants once you exhaust the market.
Vara, Vengeance Seeker:
Although vara is a decently strong card, at the end of the day she's just a big 'ol removal magnet. I won most FJS mirrors because my opponents were playing varas into slay, which is an incredible trade for us. A big beefy fatty on 4 just isn't quite worth it in this metagame.
Brel, Solist Apostle:
Definitely one of the worst cards in the list, but I did want some extra top-end and it's not completely embarrassing. The main issue is how badly this card shapes up against icaria, and it's also just kind of unimpressive for a 6-drop.
Icaria, the Liberator:
One of the best cards in the deck, and the single card that opponents least want you to have on average. The one issue with icaria is that the influence can be difficult at times, but she more than makes up for it with raw power. Another nice bonus is how well she synergizes with our revenge units and displays.
Market Treachery:
One of our best market cards, very nice for sniping icarias and maktos in the mirror. Also necessary for beating recurring nightmare + iceberg scattershot combo, a deck I faced twice in my run. Note that treachery costs 1 less, so you essentially get to play with thoughtseize that deals 2 damage to the opponent instead of to you.
Market Stormhalt Knife:
An incredible card against aggro, also decent at dealing with random icarias and the like.
Market Dizo's Office:
Although office is a strong card, I don't think it's as powerful as the other options available. It's just too slow and durdly for this format.
Market Rizahn:
I truly wish I could've found room for a market rizahn, because it's incredible at sniping tombs and blocking icarias. Unfortunately, I think stormhalt knife is just too much better against aggro, and I couldn't find anything else to cut.
That's it, I hope you like it!
Thanks for the compliment, I'm always happy to help :)
