This is an update to my original Rakano Flying Aggro deck (https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/d/QsSJK4-HltA/masters-rakano-flying-aggro-yes-seriously). I am leaving that deck list unchanged in case anybody wants to play that version. For this update I removed Skywing because even though it's a great card early game, it sucks to topdeck into an empty hand. My goal was to make this deck more consistent, so no more Skywing. Since Skywing is not in the deck now, I also removed Calm Instructor. Instead, I lean more heavily into cards that help push damage. Monarch Cloak was moved from the market into the main deck to silence blocking flyers. I also have 4 copies of Foxfang Katars now, instead of 3 like the previous deck, because it is essential for dealing with Feln Heron. I also increased Finest Hour to 4 copies instead of 3. Lastly, I have 2 copies of Liquid Flame because of its versatility for putting damage where we need it.
I used this version of the deck to quickly climb from Gold III to Master this month, and like the previous version, it is VERY effective against Patrice Recruit decks, and midrange in general. It's toughest matchup is against Feln control. You can't let Feln drag out the game playing removal every time you put a unit on the board. Best openings are either Quick Study followed by Warrenborn Mistral for protection against their removal spells, or Warrenborn Mistral followed by Steelfang Glaive. Feln matchups may still come down to whether they draw Heron, and do you have Foxfang Katars to answer it.
And if you do miss playing a unit on turn 1, how bad is that usually?
