Started this Argenport Forge run with a brutal loss to Grenadin Revolt, then clawed back to a 7-1 finish to promote to Diamond. While it features a Legendary finisher in
Obrak, the Feaster, the true engine is the high-value
Memory Dredger loop that generates an infinite board.
The Strategy:
1. The Infinite Value Loop: The core engine is Memory Dredger (3/4 Flyer). By hitting the AI's face, you can pull
Fallen Oni,
Sparring Partner,
Auric Bully, and
Reliable Troops from the void for free every turn.
2. The Scaling Mentor: The 'hidden' win-con is dredging the Sparring Partner to repeatedly
Mentor your Reliable Troops. This turns a 1-cost unit into a massive threat that uses Valor to trade up into the AI’s mid-range beasts.
3. Pressure & Trades: Auric Bully is a premier dredge target. A free 3/2 body every turn forces the AI to either lose 3 health or sacrifice a 2-drop or 3-drop just to stay even.
4. Milling the AI: Against 'Hunt' or 'Xenan' decks, repeatedly dredging Fallen Oni to discard their top units is a legitimate win condition. It snipes their 'Boss' cards before they draw them.
5. The Obrak Finisher: Obrak is your 'In Case of Emergency' button. He is a 7/7 Flying monster, but he is not the main game plan. Only play him when you have Revenge units (Tock Tick, Silverwing) or Awakening tokens to feed him.
6. Removal Suite:
Slay,
Topple, and
Collapse handle high-stat threats, while
Sanguine Sword (sacrificing a 1/2-drop on summon) acts as a 4/4 'sniper' to clear the way for your Dredger.
7. The Survival Layer:
Piercing Grief provides a vital 6-point health swing. While it doesn't stick around to feed Obrak, its Revenge/Destiny cycle and Lifesteal give you the life-total buffer needed to survive early aggression until the Dredger engine is fully online.
Post-Mortem: Why I lost to Grenadin Revolt (0-1)
The deck's biggest weakness is early-game swarms and flyers. I went 18 turns without drawing a single piece of hard removal (Slay/Topple) or my Dredger to block. I killed a unit that shuffled a Firebomb into my deck (which I drew immediately) while a Soulfire Drake buffed a 4/1 flyer with Charge.
Lesson Learned: Against Grenadin/Aggro, don't wait for value. Use Talon of Nostrix or Collapse on their very first unit. If they get a 'wide' board and a damage-boosting relic, the 'Pass-Pass-Dredge' plan will be too slow."
